Mine are up but no blooms yet. Do you think the hybrids are later? My mom has the old fashioned ones blooming?

Denver, CO

Lovely layout/design. Can I request a single, broad overall view of your bed?

Oh, yes. Isn' that charming, ladies and gents? Looks liek you have some nice topography to work with, too.
I think that old trees surrounded by small bulbs has some sort of romantical appeal. Excellent job, Cceamore.

I love your mature woody landscape, cc - beautiful!

Lewisburg, KY(Zone 6a)

We have about an acre of woods and I had thought of making a sitting area out there. I enjoy birdwatching and the squirrels too.

I may add some bulbs this fall and move some of my hosta out there when I divide them later. Thanks for the inspiration. What is the purple at the base of the large tree? Crocus?

Hixson, TN(Zone 7a)

Yes those are crocus.I don't know how many bulbs I try and buy some
every year and add to them. My tulips are coming up I will take some more pics tommorow I had to charge my camera battery.
Thanks for all the compliments!I was hoping some more people would post their early bloomers on here.

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Well cc, I didn't want to take over your thread - but I have lots of stuff blooming as well now! I stopped at home at lunchtime today and took a few pics before heading back to work....

I wish I had a nice wooded landscape with some contours to it like you, cc - I am in suburban gridlock here, and all of my trees I planted myself within the past two or three years. A lot of the bulbs are older than the trees!

OK, one more - I like the traditional blue ones as well

With those first two, you actually found a yet-undiscovered color combination, I think. I wonder if one could possibly find an early tulip near that color, or a ruddy Anemone blanda. What Hyc. is that?

Hixson, TN(Zone 7a)

Wow, Steve those are great! I love Hyacinths I have some wild ones blooming today I will post a pic of them when I get back from work. I dug one out of a ditch where they were fixing to widen the road that was three years ago and now I have a little clump. I have some I bought at lowes but they aren't up all the way yet.Hope to see more blooms I love spring!:)

cc-- I love your collage of the 'purples' in bloom. So pretty.

We have similar woodsy gardens and bulb project, but I think you have a lovely view!

Good luck with your planting scheme. t.

I'm so jealous. I have a few little yellow crocus popping up, but the dafs, hyacinths and tulips are weeks away. But your pics let me know that it "Won't be long now!!!"

What are those beautiful blue flowers in the first collage. Are they some kind of iris?

Hixson, TN(Zone 7a)

Yes they are iris I got them from white flower farms 2 years ago on clearance in a collection called the blue collection. It was a whole lot of
different flowering bulbs that are suppost to be shades of blue.
I try to have alot of blue in my garden because it is my sons favorite color. Here is a link about these dwarf iris
