Then there is the chance seedling. I haven't cleaned this pot yet because of what I found on the side of the pot. It only gets water from whatever seeps through the clay pot.
Propagating Rexes
That seedling is amazing! I love all the little plants. I've been meaning to try to start a few from leaves, but have just put it off. Now that everybody's in the greenhouse, maybe I'll get to it. I like to have extras just in case of disaster :-) You have the most amazing collection!

Let's try this again. I guess DG just had a big burp a few minutes ago and wiped out everything I keyed in.
Propagation is probably not as good this time of year as spring and summer but I would try it anyway if you're trimming away leaves and stems. I continue trying it but the success ratio does seem to go down with leaves.
Yes, it is amazing on how durable most plants are such as this seedling. In nature, they don't get the molly- coddling we like to give them so maybe we do tend to kill them with kindness.
Here is a begonia growing on a limestone rock in Belize. Note the little seedlings as well. I guess it doesn't need a lot of soil. It might drown if it was in soil in a place like Belize.
Butch your pictures of the begonia seedlings are so very interesting. I'm just amazed at that one on the side of the pot. What determination!!
I'm enjoying all the pictures and learning so much here.
