I thought I had posted last night but the question is gone so I'll ask again. Will a Japanease maple grow in my zone? I 'm coastal zone of Louisiana ...60 miles for the Gulf. The hurricane wiped our backyard and a landscaper is replanting. Im thanking abt. the Japanese maple called bloodgood and it will just be an accent tree. The site will be sheltered am seems perfect. Any advice is welcome. thanks, ssdogwood
will the tree grow in my zone?
Japanese Maples thrive here in coastal Alabama but they appreciate a little shade, such as underneath tall pines. They may scorch in full sun.
Morning sun OK (preferred), PM sun will burn it. Otherwise, it should do fine as long as it has excellent drainage.
