Orchid Moss

Floyd, VA(Zone 6b)

I want to thank whoever suggested orchid moss for propagating brugmansias. I cut 14 stems only two or three days ago, and now all have the beginnings of nubbins. I wonder if it would be as good for hibiscus cuttings?

Ginger,
Go to the Brugmansia fourum. There are over a hundred comments on orchid moss. It is under a recent posting about a rooting experiment. Everyone is very excited. It even germinates seeds. Wow!

This is a must. You must wear gloves when handling it because there can be a terrible disease contracted from it. It begins with little bumps three weeks after exposure and progresses to lesions, and (AGHH) possible internal infection. I handled a whole block of it from start to finish before I found the posting on it. I copied the posting to give to my doctor if I get it; she'll never believe it otherwise.
