I have allot of small Wild plums on my property ( Prunus Americana) and would like to know if I can use scion wood from another Specie besides plum to graft onto their rootstock. Thanks

Compatibility (Grafting)
Hi Bill, I think you have to stay with fruit tree species. That Fruit Cocktail tree, has plums, apricot, peaches, etc. grafted on one tree. The same with Apples, and Pears. I have not had a chance to try again, I wanted to do roses, but I touched the end of each sicon, when I put them on the bush. Then, found out you can't touch the ends with your fingers. Give it a try, worst thing that can happen, is it won't take! Thanks, Krispi
Genus Prunus to species of same Genus for sure a match.
Dax
Please excuse me, I had forgotten that I posted this, Thanks for all the input Krispi and Dax, I'm going to graft various plums to them that I've gotten localy, thanks again.
BILL
