You all are on a roll; guess again

The answer is the binomial scientific name of a woody plant native to the eastern US. Escalating clues can be provided if needed, though that hasn't been necessary yet.

Edited out "commonly grown in" and inserted "native to".

My man!

No, you need to rest up and recover from your ILness. The answer is Betula x Renaissance E... er...uh...never mind™.

I must have posted past everyone's nap time. Or, no one read Underwear Owl's post on the other thread.

I get to give a hint! The clue, which could also read as:

Usurp a SUNY toupee rumor

(with apologies to all our hairless friends from the NY state university system)

This plant can make up into a nice small tree, though it is most often a multi-stemmer.

Is it Carpinus turkzaninovii?

Hi Defunct:

No, but it looks just like the Carpinus fangiana in the yard, that I keep spraying but won't die. Maybe I ought to drive the car over it...

C. fangiana is, according to Krüssmann:

Quoting:
Unknown whether or not in cultivation, but by far the most beautiful of the genus and known since 1929.

In the eye of the beholder...really not much more than a pest plant.

Jumble redux: YUP USURP OUR AROUSEMENT

Clue Two:

Not a Carpinus!

Clue Three:

It does, however, have some rather pestiferous (dare I say invasive on this forum?) relatives which are common. I have the jumbled plant and the others mentioned here, and am actively eliminating the "bad" ones.

Are you sure you don't have one too many "u's" in there. Not that it would help me solve it, but I'd really like to catch you in a mistake. This has gone from being fun to a major source of frustration. Razzle frazzle gritzen schnotzen! Oh, BTW, is it Carpinuuus tuurkmenistan?

ulmus gut it but the 5th u contortred my pumila brain unto prunus via malus and back to morus. I surrendurr. Chris

Yay! I didn't have to discipline Waackia for not being able to count to 5. You've got to get up pretty early in the a.m. to find a botanical Latin spelling problem...

You have all restored my faith (and mania); I appreciate the wink wink nudge nudges, too.

I shall continue the games, though I'm going to have to go about making up some new ones. I had a stash of a dozen or so, and had the obviously mistaken belief that each would last a little while.

I always love a challenge, though...glad you all are enablers.

Look: all five fingers! Take note, cheesehead. ¹, ², ³, 2², (1.7099)³...

Methinks we have allowed something to escape from the bottle that will never be able to be controlled. May the force be with us.

Is it Carpinus henryana?
