I DID IT! Now help me name it!

Kylertown, PA(Zone 5b)

After almost exactly two years of waiting, I'd like to introduce you to the bloom on the first ever of my two-year old Schlumbergera seedlings to bloom!

I made this cross myself on two of my plants: Lavender Doll x Tinsel. It took just about a year to harvest the seeds. I planted these on Feb. 15, 2004. As they grew, they were potted on until I had them in 4" pots. I have 6 seedlings left, and this was the only one to bloom this year, and it only gave me ONE bloom! (Talk about a tease!)

Lavender Doll is a fuschia color and Tinsel was peach. Tinsel had the plant habit and flower shape of S. bridgessi, while Lavender Doll had more of a S. truncata habit and flower shape. The segments on this one is sort of a blend between the two, and you can't see it on the pictures, but the color was a bright fuschia with copper peach overtones. The flower was the shape of and held up at an angle like an S. truncata.

So.... what should I name it? The person who suggests the winning name will get a couple of unrooted cuttings of this plant when the weather gets warm enough to send them.

Thanks in advance!

Capistrano Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

it's gorgeous, schlumbergia hybridizing seems like a smart vein to be in, imagine if you could hybridize a green and red one - a marketer's dream!

Is this a double bloom? or is that just the shape of the flower?

I'd name it "Candy Cane"

Silex, MO(Zone 5b)

Wow- that's really beautiful!! It makes me think of tropical punch. Or maybe "punch bowl"? LOL :)

Well, after much deliberation, looking at the picture, and trying to fit the names that were given here to the look of the flower, I have decided that the name shall be:

DRAGON'S WING

Close second was COPPER DRAGON (I liked the way it sounded).

This makes beautyreddragon the winner. Congratulations! BRD, if you will send me your mailing addy, I will get some unrooted pieces of this cactus to you when winter loosens it's grip a bit on my part of Pennsylvania.

Edited to add: This was fun and thanks to all who suggested names! I just noticed buds on another one of these seedlings, so when it blooms, I will post a picture of the flower in a new thread and we'll do this again!
