East Coast Storm and Flight Cancellations-Protocol?

Franklin, WI(Zone 5a)

Can anyone give me any wisdom since I can't get thru to the airline? Hubby is suppose to fly into Newark, leaving hometown at 3:45 pm. Midwests schedule says flight is still on time, but local news station showed monitors at airport in their newscast and most everything is cancelled into the east coast, especially Newark.

What is the protocol with cancelled flights? Does my hubby have to try and get thru the phone lines and re-schedule, or does airline contact him and reschedule a flight....or?

He's never had a cancelled flight before and has no idea how this is handled. Midwests website is pretty useless as far as providing any kind of information.

Thanks!

HI, I think that you need to call, guess I wouldn't rely on airlines (you have to pay for food on Midwest now!!!..so I wouldn't hope that they would spring for a call!)
