Rooting Experiment Results

And the last one - and winner by a long shot - is a pink from Gordon H that I placed in Orchid Moss, thanks to the info provided by Nadine. This one had roots that held the whole cup of moss together all the way up the stem. Works for me!!!

Do you recall how many days the experiment was for? Where they rooting for 3 day, 7 days, 2 weeks?

Mine started rooting between 3-5 days depending on the outside weather. I don't root stuff in my house..plant belong outside if they gonna live outside..lol..mine is in the greenhouse...I am going to start my cuttings soon as they get here from Edna and show pics as I go along..I am not sure if anybody on here is still doing the orchid moss rooting...

Thank you, And everybody in my family still misses Daisymae...

There's a lady who lives in a lot behind the courthouse. She had brugs every year. when I started growing them, I asked her some questions. She said she just rooted them in water ALL WINTER LONG and then just planted them outside. Since I have decided that I probably can't afford to heat my greenhouse all winter, I thought I'd root them in water in the house and then plant them in pots around March 15 and let them grow out until the last frost date, around May 10. Does this sound possible? It looks like they would rot if I tried to keep them in water all winter. But she swore she did.

First of all ...Condolences for the loss of your beloved Daisymae, I remember reading about all of her adventures (I was just a lurker).

I just wanted to say what a great time capsule thread this has been, I have enjoyed it very much. ^_^

I'll try again. If I use the orchid moss and leave them in the water until spring, will they survive or rot?

Has anyone ever tried to get cuttings of Daylilies to grow or anyone ever tried Bap 10 to grow daylilies. I know orchid growers use Bap 10 & they will cut a slice on the stem & new groth will apear.

Bap10 is totally new info for me and will probably provide me with a few hours of entertaining research to explore a new (to me) aspect of gardening. Thanks, Roseman2, for mentioning it!
