I feel like starting a thread.

>>>I had a similar experience when I took a plant-oriented roadtrip to the pacific NW. (Where I travelled through 2zeus' town. Wish I'd known her then!)

Kenton..You mean you heard Laurie singing to 70's tunes at the top of her lungs??

Denver, CO

Eh? I was in Alberni, where 2zues lives. It would have been fun to have a cup of tea with her, but I had not met her over DG at that point.

you are a busy and short on space beaver!!

DC metro, VA(Zone 7b)

woo hoo! I had lots of fun looking at your propagation area.

What's the strappy grassy foliage in the first one? And the ones in pic 5?

And the container you're using in pic 6 is just too funny!!!!!!! I'd never have thought to use one of those.

Love the tropicalesque stuff you have going.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Wonderful photos! You've definitely earned your "mad gardener" title -- even in winter!

Denver, CO

Thanks. Now if the neigbors could understand...

Grassy stuff in #1:
Washingtonia robusta and
Phoenix robelinii seedlings.

Grassy stuff in #5
Hippeastrum x hybrida 'Fairy Tale' Want any? I could get rid of some.

And it is funny that I don't know which container you mean in #6! The tuna-can salad and crackers thing, the flip-cered whatamacallit, or the Green Bubble-wrap package for Bulbs? Maybe the yogurt conatiners, the Wendy's salad (or what?) things, or the novelty toy bubble. -That has Saitpaulia seeds under it.

Kenton awesome plants/pictures. Picture #4 leaves back left with all kinds of babies coming up who are they please ?
I have only been growing African violet by leaf almost two years :))

Denver, CO

'Mosaique' I love it.

Denver, CO

It takes less than two years for an inkling to swell into a wildfire life passion. I dabbled with all sorts of hobbies, but never went so crazy as I have (or stuck to so long) as I have with gardening.

Denver, CO

I realize now that I should have explained that the first frame used to be solely for potting. Now a small segment is for such uses...

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

WOW cool. Ny last leaf of it gave me six babies ! I love that plant. You sure are getting babies super fast !
Do you use Special hormones ?

Love! I have a close friend at whom I always laugh- she breathes on her little plants. I gave her a quizzical look and she said "Carbon dioxide."

I can't wait for warmer weather when the Powdery mildew no longer plagues all of them. I use a fan during the day, which has kept it down to a minimum.

Credit should be given to Allison, who sent me almost all of those leaves! They have been such a great source of joy, And I fight the urge to allocate them out to people before they are ready!

Gardening is very addicting - I can't stop myself from constantly going and checking on all the kids....constantly looking for new growth or signs of buds...found a new bud starting to grow on one of my streps...yippeee. No one could possibly understand unless they actually do it for themselves.

Denver, CO

True. I end up losing a good hour or two looking- starting at one end, slowly making my way to the other. By the time I've gotten to the end, I end up going back to the beginnning...

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

I am in awe!!!! Breath taking!!!!

Denver, CO

Then I'll just have to make a note of that...

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

beauty Kenton!!! nice job!

DC metro, VA(Zone 7b)

Washingtonia robusta - you mean this huge tree?? http://www.floridata.com/ref/w/wash_rob.cfm

Wow!

Thanks for the hippeastrum offer - I have to decline - no room left for anything....

Denver, CO

That's the one. I reckon if you haven't room for Hip. then I'll bet you don't have room for a slow-growing fan palm...
I'm going to try it outdoors. We'll see!
