Anita, I just had to post something, no one had said a word all day here.
Andy P
First big Snow Storm coming.
Really? They left you all alone!!! Shame on them.
I was at work, but out in the field. If I am in the office I usually log on.
Were you off today?
Anita
Oh I worked, But there were no posts in the forum all day.
So I jumped in.
Andy P
hmmm..wonder where everyone is?
What do you do, vocationally?
Interior painting, Plain or Faux. Murals when I get lucky.
Andy P
Murals....I would say that you are an artist then...
I'm a medical software trainer. I have worn several hats though; teacher, ER Technician, Medical Biller
Yes, I think I remember you mentioning that you like not being in one office too long. No politics, am I right?
Calling me an artist is really stretching the term.
Like you I've worn a few hats. Main Frame computer operator a looong time ago. Real estate sales, Retail hardware, United Van Lines sales and a few others.
I get bored easily.
What I'm doing now changes often enough to keep me interested if not rich.
I can also get away with working only 6 hours a day, LOL
Hey, I'm French.
Andy P
hey..La bonne vie...n'est pa?
Oui, Madame!
I still remember some of my High School French..not too bad.
You guys are too funny! I'm so glad we've "met". I think people might not be coming to this thread because the storm is long gone. Except me, I check everything on the Northeast forum (as I think you guys do).
I'm a therapist by trade. I ran a municipal Youth Services Dept. (Counseling and prevention programs) About 18 months ago my duties were expanded to include Senior Services and Social Services (poverty). It gets overwhelming and crazy sometimes between suicidal or neglected kids, administrative hassles and town politics (which is why you haven't heard from me the past couple days); but most often , I love my job and the staff I've pulled together over the years.
BTW, the snow cover is almost gone here on the shore in CT. Sure went fast.
Anita, coffee's on. Andy, please join us.
Hey there - was wondering where you went to? Thanks for the coffee! I've been running back and forth getting ready for work. Don't have to be in until 10am - Bay Terrace, which is right by the Throgs Neck Bridge/Fort Totten. I'll probably leave about 8:45am.
Therapy...a very noble trade. I have a lot of respect for therapists. You need acute eyes and ears and very strong shoulders!
Hi Guys, My morning check in is very brief, so I missed you this AM. I was having my 2nd cup though. Someone asked for help painting and I had to respond to that, LOL.
(not) Dave, I have to check this thread, I started it!. I'm not a hit and run kind of guy.
Maybe we could convert it into an "Introduce yourself" thread but remember this forum is "OPEN".
Another very warm day is eating away at the snow, 55F now. By, By snow!
I'm enjoying a short work week, just finished a little job this AM. I'm waiting for the word when I can start on my biggest job ever, restoration work on a 200 year old house being converted to my lawyers offices. Then I'll be working 6 days a week, I hate that. Should keep me busy for a month. Other than an appointment or 2, I'm off till Monday.
Andy P
Hi, everyone,
I just checked back in because I was wondering what people were still saying about the snowstorm that's doing a disappearing act, but I see things have switched gears. Now I understand why my husband gets so fascinated with the backcountry skiing forum he's on--Telemark Tips--people talk about all kinds of things!
Alors, Andy, t'es francais? (ce forum est assez informel pour qu'on se tutoie, non?) I lived in France for a while, then Morocco for a while longer, and now I'm a grad student in comparative literature, doing mostly francophone stuff. So I also technically have a short workweek (though I could--or should--be working about 26 hours a day!!)
So gardening is a great hobby for someone in school--a totally different kind of intelligence, a chance to let the brain rest and to use the body, something tactile and sensory rather than abstract and intellectual...and pure beauty without the need for interpretation, the everyday astounding miracle of growth without the need for explanation (except when there's a problem, and then you go to DG and ask for help!)...
Okay, that has nothing to do with the snow (which is quickly melting here--I saw a crocus blooming today), but if this thread is shifting gears, well...
Meg, You can call me Andre, LOL. There are a lot of 'Frenchies' in the north east.
Maybe by this weekend the thread will be "How Cold Is It"?
Or maybe the thread will melt away like the snow.
C'est la vie.
Andy P
How about this one... makes more sense http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/576690/
Meg, Are you at Yale? Your field of study is so rich!
Yep, I am, but I'm still a nice, normal person, I promise! It is a very cool field of study--I'll never get bored (or get through it all!), that's for sure. But it is nice to get out in the garden and do other stuff.
Meg, No Yale-phobia here. I say great for you. If you weren't quite as smart you would have had to settle for Harvard! ;^)
