Thanks!!! I hope others will follw your lead and add their reviews to their favorite (or even not-so-favorite local gardening shops and botanical gardens they've visited ;o)

Thanks so much for posting the "Go Garden" link! What a terrific resource. Being new to DG, I hadn't seen this. When I look through the discussion forum list, I can't find it though. Where is it?

Thanks!

Stormyla and Terry,

What a great project! Thanks for a wonderful idea and all your effort. I just added a few words for the Scott Arboretum and Brookgreen. Is there some way the Go Gardening Page could be better advertised or something? I think it is a terrific page but I notice that in my area I am the only one who has added info about the local gardening centers. I wonder how many DGers are truly aware of what the Go Gardening is all about! At least this thread should help make the Mid Atlantic members more aware of it.

Hi everyone,

I just found the Go Gardening link and added a lovely nursery and unique shop in my area. Stone Cottage Gardens in Pen Argyl, PA on route 512 is such a lovely little place to visit.

Aside from all the plants outside, there is a small art gallery building, and another building with all very unique gifts inside. Inside here is also a baby grand piano that is always "playing".

Outside is surrounded by Sarah Brightman's voice (and others like her) thru the wonderful sound system.

I was wondering if someone here would like to join in a plant swap at my home at the end of May. The reason for the late date is because Jessica (gardadore) lives close by and won't be back in the area until then.

I would also like to know if DG has ever had a Swan Island Dahlia coop. I would like to help with one but have no experience and do not want to attempt it alone.

Wow, I've just found that some angel in the Administration filled in all of the missing maps for the entries I've added to GOGardening. That is truly excellent!!

Now, if anyone has visited these gardens and has photos or comments, please post them. My zip code is 19403. A 50 mile search will bring them all up.

One of the interesting things I've learned in doing this project is that the largest community garden in the US is located just off US 1 inside of the Philadelphia city limits. It's at Benjamin Rush State Park. Apparently hundreds of families tend vegetable plots there each summer. It's on my list of places to go see. It's sure to be a great place to see lots of new ideas all in one spot.

Teri, Thank you. That Stone Cottage gardens sounds just lovely. I'll have to add it as a stop on my next trip to the Poconos.

I've never done a co-op but would volunteer to help pack and ship. Fairy1004 is usually very willing to help anyone with how to run a co-op. You might DMail her.

Teri,
I must visit the Stone Cottage next spring. I live very near it but never got there this year! Check out Point Philip Perennials and Glenmore. I wrote reviews of them but they need more.

Teri, Ric and I have been talking about hosting a Spring Swap sometime around May, also. I've mentioned it in a few threads but wasn't going to open discussion until sometime in Feb. Although that doesn't mean you can't have one also, two dates in two locations might work well, or that we couldn't do it at your place instead of mine, we are pretty flexiable.
I've never done a Co-op either but have participated in quite a few. I would be willing to help in someway, if you would like to look into it more. I couldn't set up a spreadsheet but anything else I could help with. Holly

Holly, I would enjoy having it here with your help. You could even come down the day before to relax before we need to set up. We have a bedroom upstairs with an attached bathroom that never gets used unless we have guests. Probably Jessica (gardadore) who lives nearby would be involved in the set up also. It should be great fun!!

I will d mail you the mail that I received from Fairy1004 with great pointers for running a co-op.

Let me know your thoughts thru d mail if you think that our communications here are not really pertinent to this thread. On the other hand, our friends here might have some good suggestions and would be interested in knowing about the dahlia co-op in advance, since we might need to keep it small as newbies.

Fantastic! That should really help encourage people to add their reviews! Thanks Terry!

One of my new friends in this area told me so much about Glenmore late this fall. It was too late for me to be interested in a visit but I will get there in spring. I will also get to Point Phillip Perennials and find out if she knows about this one.

The website below is from a faily local person (I was told) and has a once a year sale at his place. I found this to be an interesting site and am planning to go to his sale this year.
