Strange AV

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

Here is another one of my AVs that I sort of lost way back when we had to move a lot of my cacti and succulents around. Well I found it a couple of days ago and rescued it. It is an Optimara Dali. My question is this: Do you see the difference between the inner leaves and the outer leaves? Some of the outer leaves are just hanging off the side of the pot. They sort of a weird color and they feel different than the pretty inner leaves. What should I do with this plant? Should I take all of the outer leaves off? If so, are they any good for potting up or are they just trash? Here is the first photo where you can see the top and see the inner leaves a nice shade of green.

Here is a photo of the leaves from the side. They are just poor pitiful droopy leaves.

Take the plant out of the pot and take all outer leaves off and trash them. Your plant looks like it has more than one crown ( Sucker) The sucker can be removed and potted up to root to make new baby. Pot it in something small like 3 oz solo cup.
Take the plant and and remove most of old soil and cut away some of the old roots. Check roots to see if their nice and white healthy. Sometimes you have to go right down to the crown. Re-pot plant in a smaller clean bleached pot with holes . Some people bag them up. I don't the plant with proper watering and feeding, light, Air Circulation, warmth, humidity should grow back fine.
Use the lightest soil-mixture you can, and I would get Eleanor's Vf-11 for it ASP :))
Check Laurie's thread where she brought a near dead un healthy plant back to Stunning Beauty :))

Jesse, I've had lots that look like that. some from over watering some from under. When I remove the drooping leaves, I've placed them in a little cup of water. If they perk up, I've rooted them just for the experience of rooting leaves. Some take some don't. But you might want to see if they perk up and do a little experiment before you toss them. Generally speaking, if you are taking leaves to root, you wouldn't want outter 'tired' leaves. But since they are looking like they are on their way out, couldn't hurt. ALSO I'd take a healthy leaf and put it down for insurance just as good measure.

I'm glad I did this as I lost a lot of parent stock and just happen to have some rooted leaves as 'insurance' (thanks for telling me to do this AV group!)

It sure does look like you have a little sucker on the left side there.
