I also wrote them this morning and asked if they were selling the orange Brug in the picture or Jean Pasco and Frosty Pink as the auction said because the picture wasn't of either one.
It's wrong to auction two plants and have a picture of something completely different.
There's no wonder that people buy a plant and then when it blooms find out it is something completely different than what they thought they bought.
It's not the American way to falsely advertise and use other people's pictures to do it or to just use someone elses picture for your ad without asking permission.
So far I haven't heard a word from them.
Brugmansia Cherub - Have you seen it?
I agree with you that it isnt the American way to falsely anything it is stealing from people weather they think they are or not. Its wrong. I buy alot on ebay and it bothers me that she is doing that.....There is also one guy there that is selling a vine for 17.00 but shipping is 26.90....and if you buy two the shipping is 40.00 bucks
I'm afraid my comment about the American way has been misunderstood. If you will reread my post, you will notice I only addressed the issue of profit involved, certainly nothing about the use of an incorrect photo and the absence of ethics. I would think with the posts this gal has gotten from some of you she will get her act together on future offerings.
Tussee
I understood what you ment Tussee, Its just a shame the way this seller is doing it. I think thats what everyone is upset about. If a $1.95 plant is worth $20.00 to someone than heres to them. The seller like you said is wrong for posting photos that are'nt hers to post and not of the plant that is for sale.
The claws are'nt out for you! ((Tussee))! ;o)

I ordered the cherub and white too. Who else has gotten theirs? I have not yet, and I am getting anxious.

Thank you, Caren. As a jeweler, with my own business for 30 some years, I certainly know and practice good ethics when it comes to doing business. I also sell on ebay now and then, and my repeat business keeps my total of feedbacks from rising, lol. The buyer is always entitled to full and honest disclosure of the item, whether it is a piece of porcelain, jewelry, or a plant.

I ordered 4 each of the Cherub and Equador White on 6/26. I got notice of shipping on 7/11 with a confirmation number at DHL. I kept check DHL, but nothing posted. They arrived on the 14th. Well packed and healthy little buggers. I was very pleasantly surprised. For 1.95 I did not expect to see as many roots as these had. I have repotted each and they all appear to handling the recent heat wave.
LOL Julie!!
Be glad you got them for 1.95 insted of the origional price! Mine too came bumped, brused and with out leaves because they were all at the bottom of the box. But... I know they will recover and I got 6 new plants for just under $20. Really its not that bad, I already see new leaf buds comming out of yours and on mine too. It may be ugly now but give it some time and some TLC and it will be just beautiful. Im happy they wernt bug infested (which is what I expected). The only thing that will chap my butt at this point is if they are white LOL!! Then its ON!
Caren
tastefullyjulie, you won't recognize your plant in a week. I agree, just be glad you didn't pay the orginal price! I live near Parks and visited just last week, amazingly they sell plants not much bigger in the greenhouse.
When I placed my order it's was for a different pink variety that the ad said was the best pink ever released, do I assume Cherub is an inferior variety. Cherub was a sub on my order.
I actually like Parks and use both shipping and plant pickup--for sales items only (their prices are not what I would normally pay) but sometimes when I go back I get some unusual plants at fantastic prices. An example, when I was there last week, I got that black caladium with the pink spots for $1 (catalog $14.95). No way I would have paid $60 for the four I got!!!! Course, I'm tempted to be quiet when gardening friends who see the same catalogs I do see them and politely comment " Gee, that's pretty, BUT I would never pay the price they ask for them."

Lucky you to live so close, Gessieviolet! I love getting good deals. Though I can't fit much more in and I would buy them anyway if they were at such a great price. So good I do not live there.
Julie, do not worry. That is actually a great start! Look at all those branches. Repot it and it will leaf out just as Gessieviolet mentioned. You will not recognize it so soon. Sometimes you get just a pathetic skinny stick.
Thanks! I do feel better now.
Just do not overwater it for there are no leaves to use up the water. It looks rootbound which is why I said to pot it up a bit. But if the roots have not filled out that pot it is in, wait till they do to repot it.
Gessieviolet, which pink brug did you originally order from Parks? I thought they said that "Cherub" was the best pink ever!
Sofi, the advertising copy for Cherub does indeed say that. The first e-mail I got from them listed Ecuador Pink (which I ordered) using the same copy. Actually, I figured whoever wrote the copy was reading ahead as he typed and was reading Equador White while typing the copy for pink and simply made an error. I noticed it was changed to Cherub later in the messages. No big deal.
I am skeptical of ad copy as I was in advertising many years ago (before truth in advertising laws were inacted) and old reading habits die hard. In those days many a car advertised for $500--true you could buy it for that--the ad just didn't tell you it had NO MOTOR for that price. My feeling is that many plant ads kind'a follow that line of misleading thought. My comment about "inferior" was meant to be tongue in cheek--not foot in mouth!
Gessieviolet, you are right - a little skepticism is advised when reading plant descriptions. A few years ago I bought a shrub from Wayside Gardens called Clethra alnifolia "Hummingbird" that was advertised as the very best cultivar that one could buy. So I bought one. The next catalog I received had a new Clethra called "Sixteen Candles" and the tag line on the page said "Better than Hummingbird!"
I contacted Parks and they actually emailed me to say they have shipped the order out again to make up for my inconvenience. I'll post again when it comes. I am so surprised, and pleased!
You guys are evil..I saw the add for the chereb and equador...well I didnt order..last night reading this thread I got on the parks site and ordered 5...this sale has been going on for awhile..I didnt get a sold out so Im hoping that I get my little brugs..I did see the auctions on ebay and thought this person has ordered a bunch from Parks and is going to cash in on it...boy oh boy......Judy
Judy this person on Ebay has a wholesale acct with parks so he/she most likely got them even cheaper.
I also got some of the Shell vine on the parks site. They arrived in even worse cond, but are already putting out lots of new growth. I can't say much for thier shipping but at least the plants are healthy.
I received my Cherub and Ecuador White yesterday with all leaves intact and in fine shape. The Crape Myrtle was in bad shape, unbelieveably dryer than a bone, with dried and fried crunchy leaves. Thank goodness Crape Myrtles are tough and it will survive.
Can't wait to see what the 2 brugs will grow up to be. The price was certainly worth the effort.
Vicki, when did you order your brugs from Parks?..I just did and have only gotten the order email from them right after you place the order...Im hoping I dont get real bad looking plants...they have to gorw alot this year to make it through our winters....Judy
I placed the order on the 17th. They shipped the 18th. I received it on the 21rst. :)
Well I havent had any notice that they were shipping yet and I ordered ine Wed or Thur...got to get those babies in the dirt to get growing and I sure cant wait...Judy
