Something new from Park Seed, Brugmansia Cherub. It's gorgeous. I've already ordered .. I just hope the colors in the picture are close to true.

Brugmansia Cherub - Have you seen it?
I ordered one too. Maybe we can compare notes when they bloom.
I just ordered it, too! I couldn't resist. It will be my first brug. :-)
My Brugmansia Cherub arrived Saturday. You will have to wait a long while before it blooms .. it was only about 3 inches high and a lateral shoot.
I just hope they didn't photoshop the colors on the picture.

whoa well you never know i hope its a great one for you all that ordered.. That is awfull small to send though i think..
Twyla
Mine arrived Tuesday. It looks healthy, 2 small leaves, contorted and about 3" tall as well.
This spring I ordered my first Brug, Ecuador Pink, and Parks sent me Cherub instead. No reason given for the switch, but the plant did look healthy to me so I did not complain. I didn't realize that it was a new introduction until I searched this site. Two questions, please: How long might I have to wait to compare notes on the blooms with the rest of you? Will I have more success if I train it as a single stem or should I leave it as is with two "branches"?
Your's looks terrific .. better than mine .. my cherub got lost in a sea of other brugs and neglected a bit .. it's coming along fine now. WTG!
Personally I like bush brugs .. I haven't a clue as to when these guys will start blooming as they took a branch and cut it into bunches of pieces.

WOW Sofi, what a nice home your brug has!! Lots of room to spread out too,
I do not think it matters how many trunks it has as to when it will bloom, or at least I have never noticed a difference. It is more of a personal preference. I always leave as many leaves on a brug as I can when I am trying to get it to grow fast, so it has more leaves to make more energy for the plant to grow.
You may want to pot it up to a bigger pot. Though it sure looks so happy where it is. If you got a piece from above the Y it can bloom quite fast, but if from the trunk below, they usually grow somewhat tall before they Y. It needs to Y before it will bloom for you in that case.
Good luck to you!! I hope you get blooms fast. I can't wait to see your Cherub bloom too. I really want to see this one. So you go girl!
Thank you for your replies and good advice, Xeramtheum and Kell. After I posted the picture I began to worry that someone from the Invasive Plants forum might bust me about the Lysimachia nummularia -Creeping Jenny - thriving in the background. I swear, it was here when I moved in.
Will continue to inspect my Cherub multiple times daily to see if a Y is forming.
LOL. Obviously none of them come here for they would have busted us all for having brugs. They are the most invasive plant I own.
Hey! I just noticed you live in Colts Neck. Lucky duck. What a fantastic town. A beautiful place. I grew up in Rumson. On more than one trip to visit my Mom I drove thru your town and was all eyes.
Hey guys, they have one up for auction, and I'm sad to say it doesn't look like the one advertised. Or are they even the same one?
Looks like the one on ebay has the same pictures for Cherub and Ecuador pink.
You are right .. same picture! I just wrote her:
I find it strange that the picture for Park's Brugmansia Cherub is the same as your Equador Pink. Please inform me as to which picture is correct.
I find it even more strange if she supposedly got blooms from it since Parks introduced it this year. She must have a time machine to get blooms so quick!

Edited to add: I guess we should give her credit for not stealing Parks picture.

hmmmmm .... Her Cherub and EP pics belong to Native Habitat Ethnobotanicals
I would venture to bet that this person took advantage of the big Park's inventory reduction sale a few weeks ago. They had these offered for something like $1.95 each. I noticed that she is also offering the very 'rare' Ecuador White! LOL
Well I got a reply back from mgmg9495 concerning the picture:
I have carpal tunnel. I wanted to get the item listed hoping I could get the pic changed before anyone started browsing as I will be adding more info to the description as well. I guess that is not the case. The arm/hand/wrist works when it wants to work. I hope this never happens to you.
She switched the pictures with a piece of Park's original Cherub picture.
Tsk.

Just the thing I hate. People stealing someone elses pictures. Well at least I know now that it happens to the big guys as well as us, poor joe schmo's.
X and others... how can us joe schmo's (lol) keep our loved pics out of the hands for such people? Im sure there is nothing so special about my pics but I would hate for them to be used to decieve others!
Picture theft is rampant on Ebay. I cruise ebay every week looking for stolen pictures for clients. I usually send the offender an email requesting they remove the picture immediately and post an apology to the company/site they snatched it from within 24 hours of receiving the email or they will be reported to Ebay and the company/site they purloined the picture from and possible litigation may ensue.
About the only thing you can do is scare the beejeebers out of the thieves and report them to whatever site they have posted your picture on.
X
The best thing you can do is to plaster your copyright directly on the flower itself. If copyrights are off to the side, above or below the flower the thieves will crop the copyrights off which is always proof that they are not lifting pictures innocently.
Today this fact really hit home for me. I just copyrighted a whole gob of my own pics to be used at another site that has had it's share of ebay theft problems and I didn't take my own advice. lol!

Just for the heck of it .. I did a 10 minute search of her pictures on her auctions and found she had taken pictures from all these dot coms:
waysidegardens
banana-tree
worldplants
worldwideplants
caladiumbulbs
She only had 1 picture where the author gave her permission to use it and I'm not so sure about that considering her track record.
X
How do you print a copyright on pics?
X, I was amused to see she had taken a photo from Wayside. Wayside has used three of my photos, which were published in American Hosta Society Journals, without permission.
Tussee
Wow! You'd think they'd have more integrity than that! I deliberately put identifiable by me errors in my photos. Makes it easy to prove they are mine.
X
I once put my name into google and found that someone had reprinted an article I'd written on hypothyroidism in dogs without my permission. Didn't really care, but it would have been polite for them to ask first. Picture theft is very common right now.
What an interesting job X. How did you get such a dfferent kind of job?
I am getting paid $400 for 1 of my photos. I was so thrilled!! My husband is thinking I may have a second career. LOL
Wow Kell ! Congrats.
the seller changed the picture again , I emailed her and asked if the were the same one that parks had on sell for 1.95 and he anwered with.
Are asking or telling me.... lol
Caren do you have any kind of software that allows you to edit pictures? Photo Shop, Paint, Microsoft Digital Image or Image Composer? ... anything like that?
PS .... Caren you normally don't have to be concerned about someone lifting your photos from within forums that you have to pay a subscription for. Pictures are usually lifted from websites that allow free access to the public such as gallerys etc. Some gallerys are protected to a degree but there are ways to get around every form of protection if the thieves are knowledgeable.

Kell, I do a little bit of everything computer. I build them, repair them, data recovery, graphics, 3d rendering, animation, emergency web pages, news letters, data bases, manuscript typing etc. etc. If it's done on computer I pretty much do it. Got my first computer in 1975 and was heading for a career in genetics. Computers ended that in a heartbeat. About 15 years ago I was doing a lot of manuscript typing for publications in scientific journals, on one paper about buckyballs buckminsterfullerite I was doing a search on the net for a client to find out who else might be researching buckyballs as well and discovered a number of pictures I knew my client had taken were being credited by someone else. I informed him and that's how it started. I only do that sort of work for a handfull of clients. The bulk of my work is graphics related.

I just repotted mine will see what happens. it's small now.
That is neat, X. I wish I could make money sitting here on the computer, I would be rich for all the time I sit here.
This seller either doesn't know much about Brugs or just doesn't care.
They are also selling Jean Pasco and Frosty Pink using a picture of an orange Brug that looks nothing like the two they are auctioning.
Chances are they probably have no idea what they are actually selling if they have to use pictures that belong to others.
It's people like this that hurt the honest sellers on EBay.
The seller of Cherub is doing just fine on ebay, expecially if $1.95 was paid for the plant. It is now at $20.00 and I call that a nice profit - It's the American way!
Tussee
Well I guess for someone its worth $20.00 I prefer to pay the $1.95 myself but thats just me I had to buy 3 LOL! Mostly for friends that want my new babys. I really think they just want something pink.
I saw some Brugs at my local nusery yesterday $50.00 for 1gal and they were going like crazy! No names just Yellow Pink and White. I had to laugh but they thought they were getting a deal.
LOL I think its both Terry... they dont know, and they dont care.

X what in the world are buckyballs I have never heard on them and Im dieing to know just what they are.
Also I see there is new pic up for Cherub... sick'em girl! LOL!!
It makes me sick to see someone doing that to people thats being very dishonest. I emailed her .......I asked if those were the ones that park had for 1.95 and she say are you asking or telling me...American way my foot, that is an easy way of stealing money from people. I felt like reporting her to ebay and also emailing the people bidding on them. I asked to see a picture of the mother plant.she didnt write back
I got her to say it LOL!!
I asked her why I couldnt find the plant info anywhere other than Parks (I used Brug club names but edited them out for Dave's) This is what she said.
"I have a wholesale account with Parks and buy many things from them and attend their shows as we are both in SC, so yes, these plants orig. came from Parks. Cherub was developed by one of the horts at Parks and I believe Ecuador White was as well. Maybe this hort doesn't belong to the brug societies? I've seen a lot of plants, especially on Ebay, where I can't find them at those brug societies and I'm just guessing that maybe those developers do not want to join as well? I have the plant tags for each of these two varieties that will be included with the plants if that makes you feel more comfortable. "
Buckyballs are the nickname of Buckminsterfullerene ( looked it up to refresh my memory .. i always thought it was ..fullerite). Its a carbon molecule that can come in many different shapes such as tubes and balls. What makes them special is that they are hollow and very very slick. If you are really really interested here is an easy to read for laymans site about them with a link to their potential uses.

The guy I was working with was trying to figure out a way to insert something inside them for very precise delivery of drugs into single cells.
