I need to cleanup a Pieris which is covered in sooty mold. Anyone have experience doing this and what concentration of detergent did you use? Thanks
Sooty Mold Removal
Growin, Google "sooty mold removal" gives this a symptom of insect "honeydew". Some good refs but no mention of concentration. Would a high pressure sprayer work? Maybe on a lower setting. Somehow I'm picturing you out on a limb with a scrub brush and pail. Sounds like work. Best. Ken
I've never tried to remove it, but by getting rid of the scale or aphids that are causing it you can at least "cure" it. Beyond that, a new growing season hides all.

I've tried to remove sooty mould from leaves I wanted to photo - basically, it can't be done without damaging the leaves badly. Detergent wasn't enough, it also needed something slightly abrasive (I used a plastic scouring pad), and that will harm the plant badly if done to all the foliage
