I bought a "Margie" camellia from lowe's in a 5 gal container. It was in full bloom when I bought it and it was gorgeous. As soon as I got it home and planted it in the ground the blooms turned brown and started falling off, even the ones not fully opened. The foliage still looks very healthy. Anyone know what the problem might be?
Camellia blooms turning brown
Has there been a temperature change and has the plant received overhead watering? Was the soil dry when you bought it?
My first guess would be transplant shock especially if there were no signs of brown on the flower petals before you put it in the ground. If the camellia had been an established plant I would have said Camellia Fire Blight. To be on the safe side pick up all the flowers and buds and toss them in the garbage can. The enclosed link has a lot of information on camellia problems. Hope it helps.

It does sound alot like flower blight. I will have to go out and pick up all of the fallen flowers.
