Black Walnut Trees and Japanese Maples

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Do any of you grow Japanese Maples under your Black Walnut trees? I'm considering doing so and just wondered if any one had any experience with it? Thanks.

I guess no one knows, or you would have received a reply by now. Try it and let us know what happens! Or ask Equil to post that walnut link of hers again and see if the maples are covered.

If I find a cheap JM looking for a home, I just might give it a try... or not....:) Thanks for your response!

Hi Ticker I have a print out that lists japanese maples as tolerant of black walnuts.I don't recall the site where I got it. My JM are near black walnuts, but not under them.I keep the list of tolerant plants handy, as walnuts are every where here They are literally weed trees. Good luck
