I think you can have Vancouver Island. It would be very difficult to move it until after the big one, but maybe you could just enjoy it where it's situated till then. Brit tradition is pretty heavy there anyway, from what I've heard. Hey what the Union Jack, didn't you people just get rid of us a few years back?
New Canadian Province
No way. The island is staying right where it is, part of Canada. Where today, pansies, primroses, the odd rose, daffs are in full bloom.
Nurseries have just received their spring bulb orders. Nothing very exciting in the way of lilium though.
Today visited the eco-village where I built some cob and straw bale thingys some few years ago. Best of all; an oven which is used very often.

Aww Echoes, we don't get rid of people or countries we forge partnerships instead.
Pix? That means I have to take my camera out with me. I keep forgetting. Will do better tomorrow . Not sure if I'll be able to post any from here though because this computer does not have the software that goes with my camera. Might have to wait till am back in MB. (And until somebody sorts out my computer).

Like I said somewhere else, Sandy's mailing address in a rural area and her actual street address are, most likely, NOT the same.

i do knott no whaat "geographically challenged" means but I did have a goverrnmant purson helper tel me i was man-tally challenged. Ya sure i did so look out sandee hear wee cum.
Younger Yankees are mostly "geographically challenged." There was a short lived TV show on the order of Candid Camera. They set up a Canadian border crossing in (Alta) California to catch people returning from week end trips. Some were surprised, some took it in stride. Since 'The Grapes of Wrath' days there had not been a border check except between the two Californias.
I taught my son, now 5, the Canadian alphabet. I told him (a Wiggles fan) I thought it was the same in Australia. He found this:
http://www.thewiggles.com.au/games/alphabet/index.html
Canadian alphabet? what's that? except for the zed of course.
Isn't that where they teach you to pronounce eh as aaaa?
Oh wait, isn't eh really the 28th letter?
MG in which part of the Alphabet is the letter 'eh'? ;)
Exactly Baa, only in the Canadian Alphabet.
But then again look at what they do to oo sounds too.
:~)
mg
As a yank I love the letter eh. Only Canada has the charm of a national slang. Here we have a different one in every area.
But can you make *out* and *boot* rhyme?
*shaking head*
Never mind. Can you make a dog bark? Roof Roof.
Nah, my dog says "Eh?"
She's part Lab, lol.

Hah hah, I don't understand half of what you guys have said, but it's great to have some talk in here that's not about the weather.
Yea eh,,,,LOL
OK no weather only comments on I got to buy a new piece of land near the Canadian border. Eureka MT. I get to start from scratch a completely unlandscaped 8 acres with no buildings except a beautiful barn. I have no intent in living there but I will make a garden for whoever buys it in 10+ years. Look at my barn. I am buying this so I can maybe retire in 30 or so years. Oh well. It is a garden site. There is a garden shed already in the barn you can see it to the left. The other room is a tack room well I convert it to a garden compost bin. HAHA

Sorry, Montana isn't looking so good right now. We're thinking Florida might be a better trade.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D Ü :D
Oh you guys would die of cancer if Fla was in Canada. You would go from the 49th down to the 32nd parallel and fry your skin off. Beside you would then start trying to grow citrus back in your home province. Yeah and Mimosa trees etc.
8 acres. Lots of room for a beautiful strawbale house/small abode. Lots of them in Montana.
Inanda
I have 4 Mimosa trees in my Garden...at least I did until we had our coldest overnight low last night of -14 C. :( That's 7 degrees F.
Don
Uh oh........Don if any of em survive you better start making cuttings (could make a fortune there).
I want some Mimosa survivors, I'm praying that yours survived. I was in Salt Lake this summer and saw a garden with Mimosa trees. If they can survive there why not here in beautiful Kalispell?
The sad thing is I'm not going to build on the property because I cannot leave behind my garden. I will die loving my beautiful home and garden beds. Even if the views of the horse ranch are out of this world.
I'm so worried about my Japanese Maples especially my Full Moon Maple. I'm stuck up here in AK when Montana is in the freezer.
I too am worried about my Japanese Maples and my Camellia and a couple others that am trying to Zone cheat with. Sigh... All we can do is wait and see. (A little praying can't hurt either) ;)
Don
we had a -20F in the late 70's in Seattle for over 2 weeks and it took out the large Camellias and many maples were reduced to size. But they all continued.
Will this help?

The question mark is silent in the United States and United Queendom, but pronouced 'eh' in C?n?d?
My mother was fluent in American and Polish. She lived on the North (i.e. American) side of De Troit. I took her to a restaurant in the South side. They spoke Chinese and Canadian. She asked for change. The cashier asked if she wanted loonies she said singles, which they didn't understand.
Oh no UUallace, ? is most definitely not silent in British English!
'Eh' is in common use here, usually after a question, sometimes in a subconcious hopeful request for agreement with a statement and it's fairly widespread. West Midlanders pronounce it 'Ay' and we seem give it the most useage since 'Ay' can mean 'I beg your pardon, would you be so kind as to repeat that please', it also means hasn't or haven't, but we are oft accused of speaking in questions so 'Ay' is trotted out quite a lot. :)
Wouldn't it strike a blow for women's rights if you stopped calling your country a kingdom?
I am married to a Scott of Buccleuch (pronouced Selkirk). Anne Scott, Duke of Buccleuch, married James Whatever, he took her name. My wife and son would qualify for Descendants of the Illegitimate Sons and Daughters of the Kings of Britain (Short form censored).
The only British royalty that I have a chance of being related to is your Queen Grunhilda I (Swietoslawa).
When my spouse and I was visiting relatives in Texas in October, I met some wonderful friends of the family as well. We were shocked that most of these people were unaware that we (Canada) were a member of the British Commonwealth, (sometimes referred to as Empire).
Commonwealth of Nations also British Commonwealth
An association comprising the United Kingdom, its dependencies, and many former British colonies that are now sovereign states with a common allegiance to the British Crown, including Canada, Australia, India, and many countries in the West Indies and Africa. It was formally established by the Statute of Westminster in 1931.
As it was the Canadian Thanksgiving at the time, (traditionally the second Monday of the month of October), one young man after considering this fact for a while, finally had this question. He asked " What have you got to be Thankful for"? I was taken aback, before my family member quickly explained to his American friend that in Canada it is normally a celebration of the end of the Harvest, rather than a holiday commemorating a feast with Pilgrims and Indians. This young man was amazed.
Don
I guess you have a real drug problem in Columbia? Or was that the District of Columbia? Years ago I was handed one of you new bills, and said it was an aweful picture of the queen. I was informed that it was your first Prime Minister (seems redundant).
People that lived in Texas for Millenia are called Mexicans. The first generation of Anglos born in Texas are called Native Texans.
There was an explosion on a battleship and it went into port in Puerto Rico (somewhat redundant). They said they would be flying the bodies back to the US. Isn't that the same as from Nunavut to Canada?
UUallace
I can't say I feel terribly oppressed by living in a country called England ;) The United Kingdom is the shortened name of a union.
I should imagine most people are related to some kind of royalty, after all the days when being king, or indeed queen, really meant you were just richer, nastier and had more friends willing to show up for a battle than the other land owning neighbours are the larger part of history and usually meant there was a lot of them hanging about the place.
DonM47
I've had people ask what the Commonwealth is about too, it's amazing to think that this is all very recent history. I recall on a thread here on DG I mentioned something about England not having an Independance Day and being told that was because we'd never been invaded ......... Still I can see how peple might think that.
Check out this thread they outlawed taxonomy and science:

Looks like we've acquired another "province":
http://davesgarden.com/memberlist/
Maybe they'll stay, lol. Hey, Sofer, you didn't have anything to do with this did you?
Woops, another confused Canadian. Oh, well. We can take Alaska too. It makes sense as Soferdig spends so much time there anyway.
Since you now have Alaska, is the "International Passage" still ours, or does it go back to being "La Passage Canadien"?
