I hear you about the inch worms...their black little pellets are all over my car.

Beachcomber, wanted to say "Hello and Welcome". Even though I have no help to offer on your questions. I think Sarah's Keeper (Andy) knows something about inch worms. He's really getting hit hard in MA.
I can't fix your deer situation but the recipe listed further up on this post is good for future prevention

I'm surprised Stephen King hasn't written a story about them!

Beachcomer, If you're still around, check out the caterpillar infestation thread in this forum.

I have found that the best repellent for deer and anything else for that matter is a BIG DOG. if you don't have one sometimes BIG DOG hair is enough. ask a friend that has a husky or malamut for some hair and put it in a nylon stocking and tie it to a fence or tree so that the wind can blow the scent around. it works for me and i have a herd of deer living acrossed the street and an apple tree in my yard. they never come over.

Unwashed hair is best. You can get some for free at a man's barber shop - provided he doesn't wash the hair first as they do in beauty parlors.

What you want is the scent of big animal or human.

We've used Deer Scram, which smells like dead deer to deer but not to humans, with great success.
