Houston Plantswap
Just out of curiousity--this is mostly GW folks right? Delicia I know for a fact is, lives near me. The one thing I liked was that the swaps over here were a bit different than theirs. Or am I wrong?
OMG dmj, we must be neighbors. I know dtkathy and see her at the swap. Don't remember if she was there last fall. This is not a DG activity. It was formed by a group of friends, Plantmeet.com of which at least 2 are DGrs (moodene, flowerjunkie). Seems to me that I see more people from gardenweb than DG, but of course, that is changing by the minute as more and more jump ship and come over to this site.
I have gone to 3 of them, and will probably be there next spring. With such a mild winter, I bet there is gonna be tons and tons of fun plants to exchange. Do u live in Katy? I hope you know where Richmond is, like going towards fulshear. There is another great plant swap in Missouri City and also one at Clear Lake.
Last fall Maggiemoo was there an a couple of others.
This swap is open to anyone who wants to come..lol..I have been doing this one now for nearly 6 years....Miss the fall swap last year due to driving field trips for our school district but not any more..I plan on being there and pond swap and fall swap as well..
Thank you, Neri for helping me out over here..
Jennifer is about to have her baby sometime in the next week or so..it will be a girl named Peyton Grace...I will post the news as the time goes by..
Vossner--I'm very near hwy 6 and west little york or closer to Barker Cypress and west little york.
oh, not that close then. I guess you are north of I-10?
yep
Nadine, I didn't realize Delicia was one of the plantmeet founders. my bad.
Well from what I only know that Jennifer and I co host this plantmeet..Delicia came in later to the group...mmm but not as a founder of the group.....lol...
oh, I was just going by the pix in the site.
Makes no never mind other than to say, everybody should go. Lots of fun, lots of plants, lots of food, lots of comraderie.
Oh please count me in! I have a fair amount to trade and by then, who knows perhaps I will be bringing an entire nursery! Sounds like fun, can I bring a guest- she has lots to trade as well!
the more the merrier! Like Moodene said, this is open to everyone.
dmj1218,
You live really close to me. I'm at 290 & Telge (on street east of Barker Cypress).
Hi Daisy!!..Yes, the more the merrier..and any newbie is welcome whether ya have plants or not...just come by and have some fun ..We also have door prizes and FOOD!..
Do I need to/should I bring food?
only if ya want too..check out the website up in the first post..cjeck it out and see what happens and where and who and what to do...
I went in the Fall, really because I wanted to finally meet vossner, and to look around a little, since she recommended it so much. I was embarrassed that I didn't have any plants, and I definitely wasn't looking to pick any up, but people were so nice and generous (like all gardeners) and insisted that I take some plants. I practically had to beat them back with a stick, lol!
I'm definitely going this Spring, will have time to stick around longer, and will bring some plants!
oh yipee. i'll be there too, then.
I had forgotten about the door prizes. My first time I won a plant, I was thrilled 'cause I never win anything and the plant is absolutely beautiful. It is some kind of jasmin, bushy, white flowers. the name escapes me.

I would like to attend this swap. I have never been to one before, but it sounds like fun. I'm in Bryan, not too awful far away.
Kim
well, come on! Bring a friend, a neighbor, bring everybody you want! Just watch this thread--more concrete details will be posted as we get closer to the date.
Just to add a note..Ya can do pre-trades or do the trading there...I will post my trades around the 4rd week of March..on here and on Plantmeet site...
Here is few examples of what I am bringing...
Frosty Pink Brug cuttings
Gypsy Queen brug cuttings
Gingers
Tropical bulbs
and whatever is lefted over from a plantswap on March 18th..
dmj1218 & flowerjunkie,
We're practically neighbors. I live between West Little York and FM 529, east of Hwy 6, and my mother lives off Telge and West Rd. I'm a regular at the Houston Garden Center located at WLY and Hwy 6. Nice to know there are other gardening addicts in the area!
You might be wondering who on earth I am - I post on the orchids forum a lot.

Okay, so greenbud, dmj1218 and flowerjunkie, I must live right in the middle of all of you. I am on Barker Cypress between West and 290. Didn't realize that there were so many of us almost in my backyard. BTW, greenbud, it is not uncommon for me to spend way too much time on a Friday afternoon at the Houston Garden Ctr at WLY and Hwy 6 (right on my way home from work, if I go out of my way to get there!!! LOL!)
flowerjunkie and shuggins--I'm at barker cypress and west little york(just north of windsong--coventry estates).
greenbud--I'm almost down the street from you; I'm west of hwy 6...what subdivision? We probably have alot of mutual friends.
Debbie
Why do I have to live so far away :o(
Sandi, there is one in the Clear Lake area that takes place at around the same time. Is that closer to ya? it is very well attended. I don't go to that one as too far for me.
I mean't why do I have to live so far away from my DG friends? Would be nice to live on your side of town :o(
We all need to get together one afternoon to do some plant shopping. We live so close to each other. :-).
Daisy
bump!
Well Jennifer had a baby girl named Peyton Grace Wolford! She weighed at 7 pounds and 12 ounces..21 1/2 inches long...Born on February 13,2006..Congrates! The plantswap is just almost around the corner..Yea!!
Nadine
Oh, that's such good news about Jennifer and baby Peyton! Thanks for letting us know.
oh that is so wonderful. I'll send her a note, but if you see or talk to her, pls convey my congrats
hi mags
Did I miss where this was going to be???
caraboof, go go www.plantmeet.com for details, directions, etc. it is held at the mercer arboretum (well, the park across the street)
Hi Nery! I'm sure looking forward to being a little more active this time around. I've started a bunch of seeds, lets hope they make it. I'm also trying to pot up volunteers of plants I like but that popped up in the wrong place. Can I be next to you, Nery? I promise I'll be nice. :-)
well, of course! However, I'm still not 100% sure if I'm going. I'm tied to hubby's schedule and sometimes my plans have to be last minute.
Nevertheless, I am getting cuttings/seedlings ready in anticipation of this event.
