I have had a beautiful 'Silver Wave" Camellia since early Dec. but recently the blooms which were great before are not opening and perfectly green leaves are beginning to fall.
I've feed it with Camellia food but still nothing! It is under a patio and protected there....
Can anyone give me some advise!!
Thanks!!!
Help for my Camellia!!
Sounds to me like your camellia is stressed for water. Is it in the ground or in a container? If it's in the ground, did you use a Camellia/azalea planting mix? They like to be consistently moist, but not drenched in water. They will drop leaves and flowers if they are too dry...hope this helps!
Thanks! It is in a container and seemed a little dry...... I've watered it today and will see what happens!
I'll keep you posted
Thanks again!
Normally you fertilize with Camellia fertilizer and some iron after bloom is finished. This is when you can prune for shape, too. If it's in a pot and the root ball has gone dry (when you water it the water goes down the edges between the root ball and pot then out the bottom) you may need to submerge it in a tub full of water until all the bubbles stop. Make sure the entire root ball is below the water level. This get's the soil around the roots moistened. Make sure it drains well afterward.
