Is there a thread that discusses how to collect MG seed?

If I'm going to get into this, then I'd like to collect seed. Is there any collected wisdom somewhere in DG?

It's not hard, really. After the flower falls off, if the flower was fertile, then you should see a roundish green seedpod forming. It's ready when the pod turns dry and brown. Collect the seeds and allow them to airdry a day or so before storing them to ensure that they're completely dry. Morning glory seeds will normally keep for several years, but optimum is about 3-5.

I thought I read somewhere that if you had more than one kind of morning glory, that they could cross pollinate. How do you keep that from happening?

There are a few threads on cross pollination on this forum already. You might want to check there. Appears that they mostly stick to their own kind :-)

OK, thanks. So, if I understand this correctly, the only ones that will cross are those in the same family. For instance, if I had a bunch of different Japanese MG (all I nil) and I planted them together they might cross, but chances are it would never happen without someone doing something to make that happen. Sounds fairly simple then.
