I am clueless how to germinate these. This is all the info I have. Stratify or no? Any clues on germination time?
red heirloom amaryllis
Not sure about what red heirloom amaryllis look like, but I sow amaryllis seed like any other seed and have most germinate. The last ones I tried I used a glass cookie jar with stones on the bottom, added water to the top of the stones, dropped the amaryllis seed in, put the lid on, and in a couple of weeks I had 50 or more germinated. Growing them on is the next challenge. Biggest thing is to use fresh seed.
Thanks! I was just wondering if perhaps they needed stratification for germination.
I don't think anything that grows like a weed in FL and Houston would need stratification. Nature sure hasn't provided much cold this year. Bite my tongue off, I wasn't complaining.
