Hope everyone has a wonderful day,

Coffee and....For, Monday January 23, 2006
Well, I am the first post of Monday. Hip Hip Hurrah. Well, I really am off to bed this time. Spent several minutes on checking other forums, but none like Coffee... and.
Good night all.
It really is Monday now, so I thought I would post here. I have been so busy lately I can't keep up with everyone's posts. I usually have time to quickly scan through, but I know I'm missing tons.
Just got home from taking our youth group to a broom ball event. We ended up with nearly 25 kids and adults, which is more than double for our group. Everyone had a great time. I watched; me and ice don't mix well.
I can't seem to get rid of all this sinus congestion, and it's really getting old. I would love to breath again!
Take care, everyone. I'm going to try to get some sleep tonight (it has been awhile!)
Jody
Sleep? What's that?
mg who's gonna have a tough time prying her eyes open when that blasted alarm goes off.
mg, slept only 3 hours last night from 12 to 3, inspite of Ambien
Hi,
I tried to get on here earlier and couldn't --- suspect others have been having the same problem.
It's snowing like crazy here, I'd guess something like an inch every 15 minutes or so. DH didn't think he could make it to his interview, but as he couldn't get an answer on the phone, decided to try. He hasn't come back yet, so I hope he got there okay and isn't stranded somewhere on the highway. (Also hope that the interviewer managed to get there too, or I'll have an extremely PO'd husband on my hands in a while! Especially as I kind of nudged him towards attempting this arctic-type expedition.) Thanks to everyone for your kind thoughts.
Hey MG, guess what. My tree is still up too! We don't usually get it in and decorated until Xmas eve and we cut it at a local tree farm, so it still looks pretty fresh, but I've really got to "undress" it today and get it out of here.
Wish I had my camera here. I'd take a picture out the window that's next to the computer. There's a big forsythia bush just outside that's currently chock full of snow and little birds.
"Slim" the cat (otherwise known as "Blimpy" and assorted similar terms these days) is running around playing with one of "his" tree ornaments. He made sure they'd STAY his by pulling the hangers out of the styrofoam type ornaments that I put near the bottom of the tree.
Time to get back to work. I'll try to catch up with everyone later.
Had a very hard time getting on here today. Tried several times from 8:00 until 11:00.
Will be back later to post more.
Hi all
Have been trying to get on all morning also.
jasmerr, sounds like y'all had a great time. That sure was a marvelous turnout. Good to see you back at "coffee".
McCool sure hope your DH makes it to his appointment safe and *gets* that job. Am here praying and rooting for him. Also hope he has a safe return trip. All that snow sure sounds pretty, but I wouldn't want to live in it. I think it would be fun for a few days and then I'd be tired of it.
Maria and MG, sorry to hear you didn't sleep well.
Hi Suzie ... hope you have a good day. See ya later! LOL
Well, it's raining here today. The washing machine is leaking, I couldn't get on DG ... soooo do I have to tell you this is definitely a Monday for me? LOL I figure it has to improve though, right?
Hugs to all ... elaine
A picture at 7 AM, just as MaCool said
Very pretty, Maria. Looks a lot like Ottawa does now. We had rain and freezing rain before all the snow on Saturday; sot the snow is still sticking to all the trees, wires, etc. Still pretty.
I also tried to get on earlier and couldn't. Was the system down? Haven't looked at Dave's page yet.
Went to Aquafit and then spent an hour at FC helping successor with computer stuff. Gotta go vote and at 1:30 we are finally going to get out on snowshoes for a couple of hours. First time this season for me.
More later.
Ann
To say DG has a problem is a understatement. I wonder if it is the server are some hacker trying to foul them up.
Ann, I had a dental appointment early this morning, had to cancel, this thesecond time I had to dothat, I asked the secretary, why to you give me an appointment when we always have a snow storm, she just laughed but the problem is I have to wait again hoping some one will cancel.
Elaine, Samson is in his crate too wet to come in the house though I tried to dry him, what a job that is, he is so huge.
Sorted out some clothes I want to give away, in the process, I broke the garment bag, a big one, what a mess to straighten everything out.
Having Hood's 4% Cottage Cheese with Pineapples for lunch, I think I will eat the all of the 16 oz. YUM
Ok, its lunch time now so I can talk. LOL
Maria and McCool - You got snow while we got rain. I am so sick of rain! the ground just goes "squish" when you walk .
Jasmerr - I know what you mean about that sinus stuff. It's been a bad winter for that kind of thing. Hope you feel better soon!
McCool - Hope DH has a safe trip and a great interview. My tree has been down since Jan 3, but I still have boxes of decorations to go on the attic.
Have started workng on my seed orders. The more I look, the more confused I get. I want way more that I have time to deal with. I know I will end up with way too much
Anyone here ever tried Hyacinth Bean vine? The only place I have seen seed is on e-bay.
Elaine - this really is a MONDAY!. Very dark and dreary here. What was that song about rainy days and Mondays?
Morning! (almost not!) I couldn't get on earlier either. The server or the hacker? Either choice is bad.
Back from the MRI which was uneventful and the xrays are sitting in my car so I don't forget them when I go to the Dr. tomorrow. They positioned my arm and shoulder in the most uncomfortable position, put sand bags around them, tied me down and slid me into the machine. I shut my eyes through the whole process which took only about twenty minutes. I opened my eyes as they were rolling me back out and I was glad I kept them shut, there was only about an inch of clearance between my nose and the top of the tube. Aiiiieeee!!
Rewarded myself for my ordeal (LOL) with a pot of Kona coffee and a couple of biscotti. Although Maria's cottage cheese and pineapple sounds good, I like that for breakfast along with a slice of dark rye or pumpernickel. Mmmmm.
McCool, hope your DH got through the snow ok for the interview. Those of us who drive in it regularly just slog on through, but there's always a few who can't handle it. Let's hope the interviewer isn't one of them! I agree with your DH, coming in second is much worse than not even being considered. Makes you wonder what you might have said differently if it was that close.
Maria and Jody and Gayle, short changed on sleep....I hate that. I know exactly how you feel. I get those nights too often...and then the next day I am in a fog and wish I could take a nap but I know if I do it too late in the day, I will have another restless night. Usually that occurs when I can't shut my brain down, because I am obsessing about something. DH sleeps like the dead. I swear he could sleep standing up. Makes me want to pinch him or something!! LOL
Elaine, it probably wouldn't take long for you to get sick of snow. When my sis and her DH came up to Upper Michigan because his brother was critically ill, it snowed continually the entire week they were there. She said if she never sees snow again it will be too soon for her!! And she was born there!
Yup, VAnn, your elections are getting more and more like ours. And they wonder why there is such low voter turn out, when the choices are Dumb and Dumber.
I should go pick up Sammi's toys before I trip on them.
Click your heels and repeat after me "There's no place like Coffee, There's no place like Coffee...."!!
TTYL
Sheila
Elaine,
I do snowshoing because it's real easy. Just put them on and go!
I tried cross country once, went about 20 feet before I fell and wrenched a shoulder (not good for a musician).
I have two types of snowshoes - the real old wooden ones I've had for 35 years and a pair of the newer ones. Today, we will be on trails and the snow is heavy; so I will use the newer ones. But the older ones are much better if the snow is deep and fluffy. I just wish I could replace my old moccasins. The crepe sole is getting sticking and the stitching is beginning to rot making them leaky. They don't seem to make them any more.
gotta get going.
Ann
Viola - Snowshoeing sounds like a great workout. Have fun!
M5 - Had an MRI once. Good thing I took a Xanex before going. I'm very claustriphobic. Hope all goes well with the Dr. tomorrow.
Hello. I tried to get on earlier, and then when I did the kitten jumped at the moving letters on the computer screen and somehow canceled my post. The good news today is that she is eating, hasn't thrown up since sometime during the night (unless I just haven't found it yet) and played a lot this morning so she is now asleep! What a relief. I have 2 theories for this incident, 1 is that she had a blockage of some type that has now moved through her system, or 2, that it was related to her being in heat. Tiny tho she is, the hormones do work. The reason I think the upset stomach and heat cycle may be related is that sometimes horses do that. I rushed my mare to the vet last spring and she was fine by the time I got there but she was in heat and just about to ovulate according to the vet's rectal exam. The vet told me that this can be the cause of mysterious colicy episodes, so it could possibly also effect cats in the same way.
This morning we still have that inversion so the fog and freezing temperatures are still with us. I took some close up pictures of the fog whiskers on plants and fences, might post some of those later.
Here is a picture that my hubby took of me with the cats. The cats are much more photogenic than I ever have been. I was trying to read and the kitten had been sleeping above my shoulder, but when my hubby came with the camera she woke up and wanted to get down. I was trying to get her to stay up there while he took the picture.
I need to take the Border Collie and go chop the ice out of the water hole for the horses. No point in taking that walk alone when the dog needs to go too.
Will not go into details, Meezer and Ann, but I am with you.

Good Afternoon! I've tried to get on this and couldn't too - very frustrating!!
Went to the huff/puff, then home because a dear friend of over 20 yrs decided to come down and show me her scrapbooking. We taught together for years until she moved away. Her DH was the local minister and about 4 yrs ago, dumped her and got another chick. Can you imagine. She was just devestated....she still talks about it. She lives way out in the boonies in a huge old farmhouse that she is still paying for. I feel so bad for her...she had to go back to subbing to make ends meet. The whole community rallied around her, but still she is alone. Although she is taking up with a man (who is the age of her daugher) and who is in prison. She made a scrapbook of him and said I am the only person she has showed it to. I wanted to tell her to drop him like a hot potato, but I have never been in her shoes, so I kept my mouth shut.
M5- could you come over and go computer shopping with me,,,, please.. I am so ignorant... My DS got his off the internet and will only do it that way. My other son doesn't want to be bothered (he's my stinker ya know) I had a laptop once and didn't especially like it, but I want the smallness of it...I think I could learn to like it if it was the only thing I had to use. I want a laptop so I can take it with us on vacation.... LOL
I took my friend out to lunch and had something that didn't agree with me - barely made it home!! Since my gallbladder was taken out, I sometimes have the effect after eating. Now I don't want any dinner for sure - just something to sip I think!
We had that snow on Sat. - It's crummy isn't it! Sun was out all day today and it looked beautiful!! High winds are in store for us tomorrow.
Glad the kitties are feeling better!! I got some hairball stuff for our long haired cat, but have heard of the butter on a finger or vaseline also.
Oh, I live in fear of MRI's - don't think I could do it.....even with a xanax or two!!
McC - crossing my finger for the DH job interview!!!!
I want a laptop so I can take it with us on vacation.... LOL
Now really. Do you REALLY need it? We've found that a vacation is a good time to make a break from all but the most necessary of computer stuff. We get off all our mail lists (and you know, I don't miss them).
We can, and do, check into our personal e-mail through web mail almost daily. We have found that there are internet cafés that are easy to use all over the world. And when some of them find out how short a time it takes us to check basic mail, they sometimes dn't even charge us their minimum fee (which has been set for gamers). Carrying a laptop is almost as bad as travelling with an instrument. Heavy and not a good idea to leave it in the car which means you're saddled with it all through the vacation.
More later. We tramped around in heavy bush for about 90 minutes this afternoon. I have some pics.
Ann
Hi All,
Just a quick check in,,,I had an appointment with the Dermatologist this morning. Christmas pretty much kicked my butt as far as stress flaring up the NeuroDermatitis and so my legs are kinda bad,,,but they're getting better!!!! She upped my itchy pills and gave me some Antibiotics 'cause it looks like some Cellulitis was settling in again,,,don't need or want another trip to the hospital.
Had Gran with me,,,Love her with all my heart,,,but she drove me nuts today,,LOL took an extra Xanax!
Jody,
Sinus infection,,,,yuk,,,glad you had a good time with the kids. I would have stayed off the ice too,,,LOL
mg,
Sorry to hear you couldn't sleep.
Maria,
Sorry you didn't sleep well either. What a pretty pic of the snow,,,and Samson,,,he looks like he's just dying to have that ball thrown for him,,,LOL
McCool,
Hope the interview went well and that everyone made it there.
Hi Elaine,
I had trouble getting on now too,,,sounds like it's been frustrating all day.
suzie,
I Get confused also,,,,hate ordering seeds,,,always think I need more than I can handle,,,LOL Have seen Hyacinth bean,,,,can't remember where though.
M5,
MRI sounds wicked,,,I have claustrophobia issues,,,they'd have to put me out for one,,,LOL Hope all goes well with Dr.
Ann,
Have fun Snowshoeing.
Mary,
So glad to hear she is eating and hasn't thrown up. Would love to see some of those pics you took. The pic of you is just how I pictured you. Longer hair,,,(thought it would be in a pony tail tho), Thin, and pretty with kitties around you also thought there would be a dog by your feet,,,LOL
sarv,
Tell that lady to run and quick,,,,she doesn't need him!!!!!! Sorry to hear about your tum tum,,,glad you made it home in time,,,,LOL
Well, better go get the rest of the junk put away. Will check back later.
Kelly
Oh Kelly, so sorry to hear you're not feeling well. My Mom suffers from Cellulitis, so know a bit what you're going through. {{{hugs}}}
Mary, that's just wonderful Amanda Panda is doing better.
Sarv, sounds like you had a good time with your friend. Don't blame you. I wouldn't offer advice in a case like that either. I'd just be her friend right now. That's probably what she *really needs* :)
Ann, that really sounds like a lot of fun. I know you're use to stuff like that. It just all sounds dangerous to me. LOL LOL Then when you're from south GA ... walking up mountains sounds dangerous. :)
Oh y'all ... I just have to tell you the most wonderful news. My Monday definitely improved. Went to check on my tomatoes, and I have little tiny sprouts. I can not believe it! :) I planted them on 1-19. Ohhh, I am so excited. These are the very first from seeds, so y'all will just have to excuse me for getting all excited and jumping and shouting.
Well, I've got to go stir the squash. ;)
Hugs ... Elaine
Hi all,
Well, DH made it to his interview and it's a good thing he braved the elements and went because the guy who did the interviewing came down from Vermont and it took him FIVE HOURS! What would normally be a twenty minute trip took DH an hour and the interviewer was an hour late, but I'm sure that in light of the trip the interviewer had, if DH hadn't shown up he would have definitely been out of the running for this job. Now we just have to wait and see what happens. They are interviewing other people for this position too. I have my fingers and toes crossed (which makes for difficult walking, I can tell you).
Mary, so glad to hear that Amanda Panda is feeling better. That's a nice photo too. You are too photogenic (at least in comparison to me)!
Hi Maria, nice to hear from you again. Samson looks like he's in his element for sure. I love the look of the snowy outdoors----just not the dangerous roads.
My sympathy (and empathy) to all those having sleepless nights. I have plenty of those too and have been taking an antihistamine just about every night in hopes of getting to sleep and staying that way through the night. It doesn't always work. On the other hand, I've actually seen my DH go to sleep standing up. He's done it at my store a couple of times and I worry that he's going to crash right through the glass showcase one of these days.
Okay, I'm going to try something here and don't know whether it will work or not. I started a thread in another forum and thought that anyone who's up for a chuckle might enjoy it. Now let's see if I can put in a link to it. http://davesgarden.com/place/t/568742/ Yup, just previewed and it seemed to work.
Sarv, hmmm, yeah that does sound as though your friend is treading on dangerous ground. She probably figures there's no telling the future since the minister did her dirty. I agree with you though, it's better in this case not to say anything.
Guess I'd better get going and deal with supper preparations
Oh dear, that penpal (gives new meaning to the term doesn't it?) gives me the willies, my MIL took up with one, and after he beat her up a couple times, and ended up back in the clink, she divorced him. I have no idea where she is now. Fine with me. I've got dinner cooking, so just popped in to catch up.
Mary, so glad the kitten is all right. Still think the fuzz might have irritated her tummy.
TTYL
McCool, put your thread on my list, have some funny things to tell that were not funny then
This message was edited Jan 23, 2006 8:23 PM
VI - we are going camping 3 x this summer for at least 10 days each and I will be without you guys!! I can't live without checking in!! Several of the campgrounds have internet access (can you believe it!!) I know there is a library near one campground and I can visit there I hope. My old relic is about to die and I'd like something with more speed.
Tum tum is feeling better - just ate a container of yogurt. It is setting fine.
DH is off in la la land and it's 7:30pm - tonight is wrestling- I hope he sleeps right thru it! LOL I'm pooped, so I may hit the hay early tonight too. I did two crosswords in the paper, the jumble, and the soduko, plus finished up a book I was reading...I need to find something else to do!!
Time to get the pj's on!!
Hi again. Sarv, your friend's friend makes me shudder. Here is why. Guys in prison have nothing better to do than sit around and figure out how to take advantage of somebody when they get out. It's easier than working for a living, and there is that exciting element of risk. They are con artists, surrounded and advised by other con artists. Here in the northwest we have a case pending trial where a man in prison got into a pen pal relationship with a lady, she helped him when he got out, he needed clothes, car, etc, and she lost all her savings and 2nd mortgaged her home to finance a business deal of his. Turned out he was operating under an assumed name, traveled around to a lot of different places after he got out, drove fancy cars, wore expensive clothes, spent money like a rich man. Well he was, but it was money from people who had befriended him while in prison, or their friends or relatives. He was arrested and spent 6 months awaiting trial in our county (my hubby worked on the case that had over 5000 pieces of evidence). He's been transfered to Idaho where they have much larger cases against him. One of the ladies that was conned by this guy has died now and his case is still awaiting trial. It turns out that he is 65 years old, uses assumed names, has been in prison several times for this and has never held a job. One of the witnesses in his trial will be an ex-cellmate who knows how he was plotting, laughing about bigger and better scemes and saying he was smarter now and wouldn't get caught again. I would hate to have your friend have this happen to her. Or worse. You'd feel terrible if something like this did happen to her and you hadn't warned her.
There was more I wanted to comment about but don't have time right now.
Hyacinth Bean vine... I've grown this several times in the last 5-6 years. It grows well, has gorgeous flowers, and bright purple bean pods with the seeds for the next year.
Darius, are they edible???
I ate a dish that I was told is quite popular in Mississippi called purple beans and rice. Are these the beans that are used in this dish???
Casey
SARV: God help that woman if she owns a computer. She need to have some professional help to deal with this situation she is in, it is an extremely unhealthy. Her community sounds very strong and she needs to wrap herself up in it. I hate to hear of women going through this type thing. Kind of makes me feel ashamed a little sometimes because I am male.
I HAVE LOTS OF HYACINTH BEAN SEEDS IF ANYONE WANTS SOME FOR A SASBE.
i'm so sorry....the caps lock was on and i don't feel like changing it. but i do have lots, no trades needed.
cut and paste on my day cause i am lazy. LOL
threw up again this am. but i was better after that. no meds at all now. i will just be tough. LOL
starting to feel queezy now, but it's almost time for bed aka the CHAIR.
just looking at it now makes me ill. nights are awful, i just hate it.
BUT, i think i am getting better. what's the alternative?
Susan
=^..^=
Well, I was sick yesterday, but today I am sicker! Slept most of the day and now I'll probably be up all night.
You're all in my thoughts!
Take care,
Jody
Jody,
So sorry to hear you are sick. Hope you feel better soon.
Kelly
Hello all, This is the first time I have been on all day. Went to chiro today with DH (thank you he is much better), ran some errands while he has at DR. Came home and began to remove wallpaper from DM's kitchen. Worked until about 1:00 then home for lunch. Oh, I had the nicest surprise this afternoon, Maria called, we chatted a while, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We exchanged remarks about accents, my southern drawl, and her German accent, which I love. Glad I have a german friend, so have practice with the dialect. Maria you listening? Then did some work around the house, fixed supper, and back to DM's tonight for about 2 1/2 hours of more paper peeling. My twin sister is coming tomorrow night and we will begin papering DM's kitchen on Wednesday. 101 I will be using your Beef Burgundy recipe for tomorrow night. Sure hope that I can make it right.
Susieq, I have seed for the Hyacinth bean, if you need any. They are really pretty, vines are what else purple (dark) with lavendar flowers, and pods that are also purple. No Carat, please do not eat this variety. There is a variety of edible green beans, which grow purple, but turn green when cooked, and for the life of me, I cannot remember the name of them. I have a few seeds that I saved this year, I will plant them again, and maybe next year can offer a few to any who are interested. They are so novel, I had people who were driving down the road, stop and ask what they were.
Sarv, how horrible for your friend. Not only to betrayed by preacher husband, but to be a pen pal to a prisoner. I know preachers are human too, but who can you trust if not a preacher? Please keep in touch with her, maybe you can help "ground her",
Mary, I loved your picture. The only thing that surprised me about you, is the braids. I was thinking short hair for some reason. Glad Amanda Panda is feeling better.
Kittymom, glad that you are "better"? Still sick, what does the Dr. say about that? Sleeping in the recliner, DH, did that for several weeks after 1st surgery. Try to place enough pillows under you, to prop you up and try to get back in bed. The rest is so much more restful.
McCool, glad that your DH made the interview. Maybe it will impress the interviewer that he made it in such bad weather.
Ozarkian, don't apologize for being male, there are female con artists too. DH has a neice who is currently in prison for similar reasons.
GG glad that the Dr. gave you some help with antibiotics. Hope you heal well.
mg, maria, sleep problems, any other night I could probably say that I had it too, but slept well last night.
Meezer, glad you got through the MRI, hope the Dr. appointment tomorrow will give you some answers about the shoulder.
Viola ann, snow shoeing sounds like fun. I wish it was popular here, but rarely do we get that much snow. I would love to be able to go to the woods in back of my house, always seems so peaceful and quiet with snow on the ground. So how long will it be before you have the results of the election?
Jasmeer, staying off the ice sounds like a plan to me. Ice skaters look so graceful, but believe me there is no graceful movements in this body. So would you please elaborate on broom ball. I have never heard of it. Is it like the sport, can't think of the name of it, where they push a disc over the ice, and there are sweepers in front to help with it's passage? Senior moment here.
101, I heard you screaming way up here. Congrats on the tomato babies, that sure was quick germination. So where are you keeping them. Is it warm enough outside? Since you will have tomatoes way before anyone else, do you promise to send me your second ripe one? I will let you keep the first. So tell us, what varieties do you have so far? I am so wanting to get my hands in the dirt, but have to "control myself" for a little while longer.
Well, I am going to check some other forums, since this is the first time today I have been on, it would have driven me crazy to have tried earlier and not been able to sign on. I am really impatient, and it would have started my day off all wrong.
I will be back later.
Hi All,
Tomorrow's daily is up in the Parking Lot.
Here's the link if anyone needs it.
http://davesgarden.com/place/t/570640/
Nity Nite,
Kelly
Defoe - broom ball is like Hockey only you don't wear skates and use a broom and ball instead of sticks and a puck. It's more for fun than sport. I think you are thinking of Curling.
Kelly - I hope the meds work for you.
Sarv - Wow! I wouldn't know what to do for you friend, if I were you. I'll certainly keep her in my prayers.
Jody
dcat & Jody,
Thanks I hope so too,,,can't afford to be back in the hospital.
Kelly
