Hen and chicks marigold

Polkton, NC(Zone 7b)

Does anyone know where to get seeds for this marigold, or what the name is. I saw them somewhere and I have to find some. Thanks.

Polkton, NC(Zone 7b)

Thankk you so much, that is one of the most interesting flowers I have seen and I just gotta have it! I wonder if anyone has the seeds to trade?

Polkton, NC(Zone 7b)

Ok, so the name of this flower is Calendula officenalis 'Prolifera'. Now the question is ~ does anyone have any of these seeds to trade or for sasbe? Thanks.

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

I don't have seeds for this one, but you can purchase seed from Chilterns: http://www.edirectory.co.uk/chilternseeds/pages/moreinfo.asp?pe=DBFAJEEBQ_+calendula+officinalis+var+prolifera&cid=211

Polkton, NC(Zone 7b)

Thanks Weez,
I checked it out and they list it for 3.08, so I think I'll wait for a bit and see if anyone comes along with a trade! Thanks

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

You may have some difficulty getting a trade, since they are a bit unusual. You might try Googling for them. Some other place may have them cheaper. They are an old variety, so once you get them going, you should be able to get seed and use them for trading, as well. Here's a tradelist from Dave's that lists them, but it looks like an old tradelist. It might be worth trying a D-mail to see if they are still available for trade: http://davesgarden.com/trading/tl/Audrey/viewbystatus/10570.html

Ansonfan-
If you decide to buy them, perhaps others would also like to share and trade for them?
I might be interested. do you have a picture?

I had a goofey flower sprout from the top of another calendula several years ago and posted its picture as a fluke. Now they are selling seeds for this? LOL
I don't have seeds of it, but the one I had was kind of silly looking since only one flower came out the top. That must have been the beginning of the sport.
I saw the picture in one of my folders, I will have to post it. It looks dumb, and if they are not perfected, you might get some silly flower for a lot of money.

I may be making an order to Chilterns in the next week or so, so let me know if you want me to order seed and mail it to you.

Polkton, NC(Zone 7b)

Hello Red Princess (Glad to see someone local on this great site.)
Weez, how do we go about a transaction like that! I'm sort of new at this thing still so you will have to educate me. I don't think I will be making an order for now for myself, so let me know. Meantime if anyone else wants happens by, I would love to trade for it.

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

I just meant that I can include your seeds in my order, saving you the cost of postage. When I receive them, I can forward them to you and you can reimburse me. Meanwhile, do some searching in the the tradelists for seeds. You might come up with something.

ansonfan - Are the Hens and Chicken Calendula the same:

Polkton, NC(Zone 7b)

Amy, thanks for posting the thread; this is the right flower "hen and chicks", but its even more expensive at the organic place and the person who has part of a pack of the seeds lives in another country.
Weez, I think I still want to give it a little time and see if someone comes along with the seeds to trade. This is an heirloom variety, so chances are that somebody out there has some seeds. And like the person on the other thread says, I have only seen a drawing of it so I don't too much about it yet. And besides, tradin is just more fun lol. I do have to go trace down that other thread you listed to see if there is still some seed there. I'll let you know. Thanks

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

You might try posting in the Heirloom forum.

Polkton, NC(Zone 7b)

Oh yea, I never thought about that
I'll get right on it, thanks

George-
Any luck? If not, I am seriously thinking asking weezingreens to buy some from Chilterns. If so, want some?

Well it looks like the cost for them is $2.60 Cdn. but it doesn't say how many seeds in a pack. I would like to buy some for myself and a few other things. If anyone else is interested I can put in a order for more (I guess depending on how many in the package) and than we can do a trade. What do you think?

I'm very excited Donna. I'm going to make a very special place for them in my garden. If you will tell us how you plan to parcel them, we can save a little time by going on to the mailbox and getting our dues in lol.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

I would like to do a trade for the seeds. This way its more fun for me...lol. I also get to try some different seeds.

Sue, you can DGmail me what seeds you have to trade.

:) Donna

Montreal, QC(Zone 4b)
