My Amaryllis

Yes I too like the look. The black background on the pictures was a suprise to me. I got a new digital camera from my DH for Christmas. I am still learning to use it.....

WoW Annetta, that is something else, and I've never seen 3 stalks either. All the instructions I've read say to put them in a pot slightly larger than the bulb, and I see yours is in a big pot. Do you always use bigger pots? Maybe that's your secret. lol

I sometimes wonder about these written instructions. Joan

Yes I always put them in a pot that has at least 2inch of soil between the blub and the pot. Sometimes I put more than one in a pot.

This Amaryllis had 3 spikes with a total of 15 blooms, 6 on the first, 5 on the second and 4 on the last to flower.

Ken what variety was your Amaryllis? My first bloom had 5 blooms. still waiting on two and three...

The tag that came with it was identifies it as Rilona and showed it as much less intense orange more of a melon or peach orange. As I am not a huge fan of all things orange, I was pleasantly suprised by the color. Because it is so vivid I am not sure it is Rilona as googling shows Rilona to be more like the color shown on the tag.

I picked it up because the bulb was so big, nearly 5 inches across, and the price was reduced 25%. It has started a side bulb so I am not sure the large planter I have it in will be big enough this year.

I love the deep pink of Pink Floyd. The substance/size of Apple's petals is really eye-catching (it would be perfection to have the above two combined). Ü
