Will tell you what really got me into AVs;
I have always had a few AVs on my kitchen window sill- my grandmother always had some and she was not what what I ever considered capable when it came to growing, her husband, my grandfather was the grower, he a Cymbidium grower in So. Cal., sold wholesale only- she was the bookkeeper. Anyway, I digress, her AVs always looked good. I bought all of mine, and I am sure she bought hers from grocery stores or other chains (HD, Walmart, etc.) and all on sale. I always had good luck w/ them, that is to say that they bloomed well and were lovely, but in my mind dispensible.
When I bought a paid membership to Dave's GF I decided to look at the AV forum to see what, if anything, was new in AVs- it was the varigated leaf and the amazing variation of the flowers that hooked me- ohh the fantasy flowers, wow, grandma never could have imagined that! Then add to that how helpful, kind and generous all of you have been- now I am addicted!

Thank you, Lorry! You're right, Allison, there's not a lot of hope for my list... although I did manage to keep my VG advance order to only 6 plants and a few sets of leaves.
I asked them to hold Pow Wow, Sterling Trinket, Skagit Victory Trails, Raspberry Sizzle, Merlot Trail, and Mac's Stop Sign, plus leaves from Buckeye Evermore Freckles, Midget Silver Fox, and Sparks & Spangles. I may cave and ask them to hold 'Goldilocks' or 'Lil Dutch Girl' also, if I decide I can't wait to get those next year (from Allison or from them). And I know that a couple more plants will jump into my basket once I'm there, LOL.
Forget the formal herb garden plans for this spring.... I need AV stands at every window! :-)

I don't think I'll have any trouble finding another plant (or two) to order in its place, LOL. I"ll leave the 'Midget Silver Fox' leaves on my list for now, and that way hopefully at least one of us will end up with it... Hey, I wonder if that's another of the vintage 'Midget' varieties Allision was mentioning in Nanna's new thread on saving vintage AVs?
The Midget 's are Ethel Champions and are Vintage and many hard to get. I sure wish I had them all :))
Most of the Ramblin' are her's ( not all) and are Vintage.Trinkets are her's. My Plain and Fancy is her's :)) First Class has 253 of her plants. Her crown yellow foliage sometimes called Champion's foliage, and she was the first to have Mosaic you see in the Trinket's and Sterling Trinket, Lillian Sparkler one of my favorites :))
I ordered many midget leaves ..so let us hope :)
And I will put yout name on a stop sign leaf critter :)
