Pollen Storage

Franklin, NC(Zone 6b)

I've been with DG for a while now and have no idea how I missed this forum. This is great! I did a search of the forum, but didn't find an answer for this one... how well does Ipomoea pollen keep? I'm planning some bizzarre crosses that may involve a time span of several months separation in bloom time (short-day bloomer x day-neutral bloomer). I know that they aren't terribly promiscuous, but I'm going to try anyway. Any advice?

For best results, pollinate the flowers when the pollen is fresh. As soon as the flower opens, pollinate the female flower with the pollen from the male flower.

Thanks. I was sent an email that said the same, but I was glad to hear that pollen could also be dried and even frozen for extended periods when flowers aren't in sync with each other.
