Guilford, CT(Zone 7a)

RoseMallow, McGlory & Shirleygirly - emailing right now!
I don't know why I do collect them all - they could go into the compost... I guess they symbolize hope in a sense... or maybe someone else might like them... I have a dozen excuses!
Or I could just be obsessive. It has crossed my mind. I suppose I could do a LOT worse, no?

Well, lucky for me that you're obsessive. LOL I'm so proud of my seeds. Thanks, again.
Hugs ... Elaine

Guilford, CT(Zone 7a)

Thanks DonnaB - although I think that means that I may have mislabeled someone else's seed packet... To all - I may have written "Purple Gay Feather" underneath "Echinops Ritro" by mistake - the "Echinops" is correct, I just mislabeled the common name... Little brain speed bump there...

Hi Red - I would love some tomatoes - I do have plenty of the Rose of Sharon to pass along to you! Sending you mail -

hickory, NC(Zone 7a)

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

Julie u r a 'seed aholic' lol, I can't believe u still have seed lol You go girl lol

I hope I can get it together and do all that seed next year, that's a lot of work, I think you have little 'Seed Faries' in your garden helping out! lol

Lea

Guilford, CT(Zone 7a)

I was thinking that I may not be so ardent in my seed collecting next year - at least the Rose of Sharon! I think I may have worn out my welcome with them... But such a gorgeous tree when in bloom! I do hope to offer loads of plants this SPring - they will be building an access road down my street, right through a river area with tons of native ferns, trout lilies, Jack in the Pulpits, magic flowers - etc. I did save some last year, but they never got started on the roadway. Now I have another chance to save some more of these precious plants. They transplant very easily, & none are invasive - anywhere in the country. They didn't even bother me last eyar when I was traipsing out of the woods with bags of plants - no one seems to care. Better for US!

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

Jrush,
Did you receive my sasbe?

Orlando, FL

I have triple datura if you would like to exchange.
Some small trees that grow in fla. not sure if your could grow them where you live or not. let me know otherwise I can send the envelope with the postage fixed to it. Thanks Mary

hickory, NC(Zone 7a)

JRUSH,
i sent your seeds out today thxs for trading

Guilford, CT(Zone 7a)

Berrygirl - your envelope is going out tomorrow - along with a few others... Moretz too!
Sendone2me - sending you mail...

I just wanted to note - I got a little behind in this last mailing, but the postal service has been VERY slow the past 2 weeks... many people are still waiting to receive their seeds from me, while others not too far away got theirs already. I don't know if the postage rate change is slowing things down, but I won't panic just yet :)

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

Jrush,
I dont want you to think I was trying to bug you- just wanted to make sure you got it. Yeah the mail has been slow here too. Guess with Christmas just over and now stamp rate increase they have gotten behind. They have to return a LOTof mail for insufficient postage and it bogs the system down. It's always like this for a few weeks after the cost of stamps goes up.

No rush Jrush- LOL!

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

U know I saw on one site that some people were trying to save plants in the woods because of progress, I wish more people would do that.
I'm trying my best with our woods around us, so far haven't been successful with the wild flowers, but that's normal I think, but do have some ferns that look like they are going to overwinter ;-) They are building 4 houses around us and destroying the woods. They don't care what you take out of it, just how much money they can make.....that's progress :-(
I think 'progress' is a BAD word.....too many times!
It's like 57 here! lol
Lea

Guilford, CT(Zone 7a)

Berrgirl - I sent yours out today, along with several others. I hope it gets to you quickly! I think the Post Office is recovering after the holiday blitz...
I am very passionate about the area down my road - I grew up playing there. I see where they have mapped out the area for building - right through the middle of the river! The destruction will be total. The opposite side of the river is town owned & set aside for preservation. But the wildlife doesn't know to leave & go to the other side, do they? I did try to find any Lady's Slippers, but I could not locate any. I tried to contact a couple of groups like the Audubon Society & wildlife organizations, but no one responded. I thought they would be interested - but I guess not.
Wildflowers are tough to transplant - perhaps you could try collecting seed? Ferns are tough little plants - they will probably do well in their new home - Keep fighting the good fight, Lea!

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

Julie,
Got my seeds today. Wow I am totally blown away by your generosity!!! Did I send enough postage??

Hooks, TX

Julie,
berrygirl's sentiments are the same as mine !!!! I received mine today and the seeds are sooooo wonderful. When I learn more about seed collecting, I hope mine look just like hers - healthy, clean and packaged so nicely. I will think of Julie as I garden this summer and enjoy plants from her seeds.
Thanks,
Louise

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Julie,
Can you believe I just received your seeds today! Thanks so much :-) The envelope was postmarked January 3rd. I'll plant them tomorrow.
Thanks again,
Siggy

Tyler, TX

Thank you Julie for being so generous with your seeds. I can hardly wait until spring to get them planted. It is such a beautiful day today and it's so tempting to get busy in the garden. We had to let our 13 yr. old lab go today but I'm going to make a beautiful garden for him. He loved sitting out in the yard while I worked. (however, neither of us liked the hot weather) It's so nice of you to share.

Shirley

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

HI, Julie - if you want to see the photos of the wind-downed tree, it's they are in the Weather Forum under "60 MPH hour winds vs 60' pine. Scary indeed!

Guilford, CT(Zone 7a)

Berrygirl - We are square... Enjoy them!
I am glad you all appreciate the seeds - Your kind words have inspired me, & will ardently collect them for sharing this year too!
I still have a couple envelopes that are lagging, so there must be some kinks in the new rate system or something to that effect... Like Siggy's, some are pretty late.
Shirley - tend to your heart, then to the garden. Perhaps a memorial garden would be appropriate, as he loved to spend time there with you. Maybe something that will grow larger & stronger every year.

South West, LA(Zone 9a)

JRush, If you have any Datura "Tatula" and Columbine purple left, I would love to have them!! You can check out my trade list or I'll send postage. JLMK
Thanks!
Caren

Guilford, CT(Zone 7a)

Caren - I have some of each for you... sending you mail...
I did neglect to mention about the Canna seeds: It is helpful to score the seed prior to sowing, as the shell is very hard. If the seed does not germinate, unearth & score again, & it should make a difference. Cannas have a high germination rate - I ran about 99%!

Dutton, AL(Zone 7a)

Hi, Could I send you sasbe for Balsam Impatiens, datura tatula, canna, and liatris, if you have any left? Thank you, Nicole

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

Do you have any seeds left?

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

I would be interested in these

Balsamina Impatiens - purple
Canna - tall red
Columbine - purple
Datura - "Tatula", unnamed lavender
Dragon Claw Millet
Hosta - "Frances William
Liatris - purple

Guilford, CT(Zone 7a)

HI Nicole - I am out of the Cannas, but I can fill the other seeds that you asked for... If that is ok by you, then go ahead & send me the postage & I will mail them out to you, ok?
Kareoke - I am out of the Cannas, unnamed lavender Datura & Frances Williams Hosta. I can mail you the others if you would like! Let me know if you would like me to mail out or wait for your letter...

hickory, NC(Zone 7a)

plmk
moretz

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

sent you D.mail

Guilford, CT(Zone 7a)

Hi Moretz - you already mailed me the ornamental peppers - we are all set! See you next time :)
I am just about out of these seeds - I only hace the following left:

Rose Of Sharon (of course!)
Liatris - purple
Ornamental Corn - "Painted Mountain"
Columbine - purple
Morning Glory - purple

I can't believe it, but I actually found places for ALL of the other seeds. I really had a lot, & I didn't expect to send so many out to everyone. Thanks to all who have taken on some to grow for yourselves, & to pass on to others. This really makes it all worth it!
