O Xmas tree..O Xmas tree..Att: KELL!!!

Interesting thread, even if not much about brugs. I have not had much time for the computer for the past few days. My youngest son and most of his family and another from oldest son were here. So before they came i was busy cooking and baking so wouldn't have to do much while they were here. Had a great time but they had to leave a day early as their house was robbed. the good thing was that the police were able to retreive most of the stolen things and caught the thief.

Our weather after setting a lenghth of cold, temp never even got close to 32 degrees for first 21 days of Dec. then warmer than normal and lots of rain. So rained off all our frozen snow. Actually i thing the frost is pretty well gone out of the soil and now whatever rain we get just goes into the soil, which is good.

My brugs are all dorman now. Have four in large pots stored out in my Bonsai storage garage room. Hope they survive the winter. have four more in fairly large pots in my small gh. and a few cuttings that are rooted and growing in their own pots. Hope the rest of you have been able to save-carryover whatever brugs you wanted. Now we are thinking Spring.

So sorry about the robbery. Glad that they caught the culprit.

I am thinking Spring too. Most of my brugs are in an almost dormant stage. Only the cuttings and a few small ones are in the Greenhouse growing like they think it is spring. I am counting the days myself. This time of year in Tennessee is a good time to plan and reflect.

Amazing what different kinds of chickens there are. I must say Fuzzy Wuzzy and Elvis are sure pretty. So will the 2 make nice with your different kinds of hens and then they will have mixed babies? Then if you cross Elvis with Fuzzy Wuzzy's offspring you might get a double black and white!!! Maybe even a triple with all those feathers! LOL What fun we could have hybridizing chickens. I want a dark pink one myself.

Boy Jim, I bet Bobbie is NOT going to be happy with you. LOL. What a picture. Too funny! I had no clue individual farmers grew the chickens for such big companies as Tyson. I guess I thought there were just these huge chicken farms somewhere.

Donna, we have missed you! I am with you, I am so thinking of spring. I can't wait to walk outside and get a whiff of springtime. I just love that the best, you can smell it in the air. Sounds like you had such a great holiday!

They are almost as neat as a pink chicken would be!

LOL..the only pink chicky you would get is a Easter chick that later would turn out to be roosters...LOL...

Oh I love the Frizzle. A friend of mine raised them many years ago. I never did have one. I did have the Silkies, White, Blue and black. All just back yard pets.

Bobbie is the best part of Jim and Bobbie. She calls chickens better than pigs. I have to make her come in the house and leave the chickens alone. They love her like she was a mother hen.

Oh what a neat thread !! I want a chicken that lays colored eggs !!! What kind are they Betty ? I also want a purty featherted hen. When I saw yours and remembered some pictures CC posted I really wanted one!! Wish I had a farm...I'd have chickens and horses again....that was so much fun.
Thanks so much for the memories ya'll. God bless, Margo

I love all these animals. Your Daisymae is such a good model, Moodene. Looks like she loves every minute of it. You colored eggs are so pretty.

Picabo, Spike is super cool! and Emu Lou Hairless is a hoot! Looks like lots of fun times at the farm!

Georgiaredclay, Bobbie looks like a beautiful mother hen. They are blessed to have such a special lady to look after them. Best wishes and prayers for Bobbie's good health.

DH says that I should hang up a sign and call this "The Funny Farm". We do have fun. My children have always wanted me to write a book, I just wouldn't know where to start. LOL

Betty, you should write a children's book. It would be fabulous.

Crestedchik, I love him!

Nashville, TN(Zone 6b)

I have written two. I am working on illustrating them. One is about a Silkie Chicken who dreamed she was a Cockatoo. The other is about three best friends a Lamb a Duck and a Kitten and their adventures in my flower garden. LOL

Oh Betty, too cute. CC has peacocks too or did have them!

CC's chick is a grand champion. Wins 1st chick in every poulty show. They are all that, even been in Vogue. I bet we could fix Mop Top up with a hottie. LOL

CC, Please, Post some pictures !! They are just too cute, are they friendly ? Do they like to be held and brushed / combed ?? Do they require a lot of grooming ? I did a short search and could not believe how really beautiful some of them are....wow:)) God bless you all, Margo

A friend of mine raised and showed chickens. She was an older lady and the chickens and her flowers were all she lived for. She should have a book written about her life, She was a character. Most of the Chickens that I have had were just pets, the sweetest are the silkies and the Cochins (Not sure the spelling on that) they love to be held. MY Polish (The Mop tops) seemed to have a bad nature. May just be the ones I had.

I have though of getting some more, but we are wanting to start traveling and have got to cut back for a while on what will be left at home. LOL

Lol, Betty, I do understand. Right now I have my Precious puppy and Dusty, my 2 yr old chinchilla. Going out of town can be a hassle since Dusty is in a huge cage and doesn't like to be held by anyone but me. He's like a little slinky. Chins are nocturnal, so during the day he can be a bit fussy.
I still want a pretty chicken ! God bless you, Margo

Kell, Woo Hoo!! "Mop Top" would probably love a girl. I think he is too old to know what to do. LOL Regis is getting pretty old, about 15 years old best we can figure. He had a wife but she left him. He took up with some wild turkeys one year and we hoped to have some little blue necked turkeys running around. Didn't happen. LOL Poor Regis. LOL

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I had no idea these chicks lived to be so old. A turkey / chick mix. What an idea!!

I understand about wanting to be able to take off for weekends. We are getting to that point also. Want to take lots of weekend trips and have some great fun while we can. There are such fun places so close to where we live, we could be kept busy for a long time exploring.

Nashville, TN(Zone 6b)

My Daughter is in Montana and my son is in L. A. We hope to take about a month and go west. We usually make weekend trips to visit. D H and I want to load up the two dogs and really make a trip of it. LOL
