Banana shrub

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

has anyone had luck propagating michella figo cuttings. I've tried several times with no luck. I'm thinking of pinning some lower branches.Harvested seeds last year and sewed them immediately but they're still pootin' around and not germinating. Possibly I tried the cuttings at the wrong time of year?

I've been wanting to do cuttings of my plant but am hesitant. One of my books says use 3000 ppm IBA-quick dip (liquid rooting hormone) with high rate of rooting from May to December. I'd imagine bottom heat, high humidity & extra light make a difference. I was going to use air-layering. Does the plant do well there or does it get frost damage? Thanks.

Well, guess I need to drag out those heating cables and try again.
Thanks for the info. I didn't read the label so I stuck it next to an arbor entrance into another room of the garden not realizing it would get so darn big so now I'm going to have to limb it up into a standard form just so you can go thru the entrance and it goes against all my gadening spirit to just toss the cuttings.

Grows darn good. It's about 10 ft.tall now, planted about 5 yrs ago. Sure glad I didn't plant it too close to any seating areas. It was covered in blooms this year and the scent became a little overwhelming during the warmth of the day.Very sweet and bananay smelling. Visiters to the gardens loved it but they didn't have to be around it every day..all day.
