I kncok them over all the time :)) Hubby does also ! Sometimes Av's like this gets them shook up and the bloom.
You can use MG and mix perilite in real good with water to moisten. I like using one part MG 3 part Perlite
works great for my and leaves, plants....
Did you say you wanted a Chirita ? They grow well the babies I have super large. I know you want an Abosia Cygnet. Your plants are set aside for packing later :))
PS you'll do perfect !
I finally got one!
Well, to be completely honest, I didn't say I wanted a Chirita, didn't know you had any available, but if you have one that needs a home, I could find a spot for it! LOL I'd love it, and I'm looking forward to the Cygnet, too. I just can't wait! Thanks for your encouragement!
Oh my goodness!! How GORGEOUS! Is that the one you have a baby of?? Wow, simply WOW!
Oh and then you go and post the bloom while I was typing! *wiping drool off the keyboard* Beautiful!
Again, lovely, just lovely...
Oh yes I have babies :)) I love her ! You will too one of my favorite plants :))
Oh boy! *doing the happy dance!* What size pot do you have her in?
I think 3 inch yours...mine is in a 5" pan pot and is aout 20 inches across now blooming away :))
What an amazing plant! Such a large one in such a small pot. Fascinating!
Oh yes it like a small pot and has new growth each day. I put acouple more leaves down the other day. I am still surprised how fast she grew good size babies..and I don't mean little mouse ears. I'm talking about good size baby plants with good size foliage so pretty ! From the time I put leaves down 3-4 months tops good size plants. I love it I have a couple other kinds coming ! And got leaves from Lorry for one also :))
Wow, first AVs and now other gessies... Looks like RainGazer and JungleBob are the latest addition to our group of "addicts" here! Way to go!
critter...well..trying not to get too addicted..lol...and Allison..what beautiful babies and pics...thanks for sharing
I'm not addicted! Admitting you're addicted is the first step to recovery, and I don't want to recover. So, I'm not addicted...that's my story and I'm stickin' to it! LOL
hey guess i'm not addicted after all...lol....you know Tn is one of the most beautiful places in Springtime....and i'm sure other parts of the year...but in spring...just amazing...been through there many times when i lived in Mo...etc...up i=24 i think...BUT..could never figure out why taxes so high...lol
Oh, good point, RG -- who, me? addicted to AVs?? NO WAY! No recovery wanted or needed here, thank you. LOL!
Allison
Have you always been good w/ plants? I just bet that you have been? Your plants are lovely!
You are fortunate to have such a loving and beautiful partner, not many like him around I am sure.
You are both in my thoughts.
April
April I always had some house plants . I always had gorgeous out door gardens up north and in Florida. When the kids were growing up and while I was healthy I qorked so many hours I barely had time to sleep let alone enjoy
and smell the roses. God has funny ways of doing things. He slowed me down. I'd say almost three years ago I bought three named Av's loved them , kept buying them..trailers Streps, A;ice Aussie my first Flame Violet will be three years old this June ! I never put leaves down I did not think I would live long enough 6-9 months for a baby ?? That's a long time. Then I was given a free leaf and it grew into a blooming plant so fast time fly's..About two years ago I fount the local group on AVSA ...learned how to do leaves and all my plants were in pots too large, and was givine bags of named leaves, solo cups a plastic box . I had no light stand and it started from there. I got my fist stand and couple light fixtures will be about two years in March, and month later got another..took several months to get all the light fixtures and gro-lights....Gosh now last month I got six new tubes and more the other day hubby needs to put on ..too long to wait I am slowly replacing them all.
I really love gardening , and all plants..African violets and their cousins are perfect for me to grow !
Their easy and anyone can grow them ! Makes it fun to sawp, trade and share. :))
I agree, they are fun and beautiful- I bet many of us remember violets on our mom's or grandmother's window sills.
I love the interaction between all of us as well. I am sure I'd like them anyway, but the give and take from this group makes it so much more. I happened to look one day and at least that day this AV forum had posted the largest number of posts to any forum on Dave's.
Many of us have friends that are topic specific- I don't share my nursing talk w/ each group or my AV interest w/ each group of friends, they just wouldn't have the same level of interest. This nice forum gives me a place to learn about, talk about, share, laugh about AVs, etc. w/ those that will appreciate it most.
Allison, you really are a wonderful person to know.
Thanks.
This is the best African violet forum ! Greatest people !
I enjoy the other forums. I just love looking at the pet pictures each day :)) Begonias, Pets, Morning Glory, Florida Gardening, House Plants, Container Gardening, Colues ( SP) , Butterflys, just a few I like to pop in on these forums ! But I have to say this one is my faovirte !
How could you tell how many postings it had. Dave gardening forums are so wonderful how here ever came up with it ! And I like you can go to more than one Forum all for one cost ! I am so happy I fount it and have no idea I did. I bet thousands of people come here to vist each day !
Like Bon said you all are a bunch of great self-less people :)) Allison
Well you can no longer find that information; I looked and looked and finally emailed Terry and this is the answer I got back:
"We changed a few things today. The old "Forums" tab is now called "Garden Talk" and it has a complementary tab next to it called "Home Talk" Under those tabs, you'll find the forums look differently than they used to. Dave announced the changes to the tabs and their format here: [HYPERLINK@davesgarden.com]"
But the day that I looked at it the AV forum had something like 200 posts- and that was just one day.
WOW that's really something ! Yes I saw the new program. At first I could not find the pet forum I so enjoy !
