What a haul, Cass. B. paleata is one of our favorites also.

Kathy, Here's a list of some cool Michigan greenhouses as requested. In no particular order.

Here are some Ohio places, besides the ones listed above.

Homewood Farms, 19520 Nunda Road, Howard
Grandma's Gardens, 8107 N State Route 48, Waynesville (Dayton)

Cass, is this the orange medinilla you got? I love this plant. I just received one via trade with knotimpared (she's no longer a member but I don't know all the reasons why) any way, I love mine. Love the colors! I just never knew it's name. they call them greenorange plant here at HD.

Fruitport, MI(Zone 5a)

goodoldbake, Thanks for the list. There's only one Michigan nursery that you have listed that I've been to. That's Sagauro Nursery. I do agree that they do have some ususual things. I went there this past spring and had noticed that they didn't have a very good selection of tropicals they usually have. I was told that they have new owners. Have you been to River Street Flowerland in Kalamazoo? If not you may want to add them to your list. I found them by accident this past spring during a visit to Kzoo. I put this one at the top of my list. Great selection and reasonable prices too.

Someone had told me about a place in Kalamazoo but I lost the info. Thanks for the refresher. Sorry to hear about Saguaro.

goodoldbake and Kathy, thanks for the list. I've saved it to my desktop so I'll be sure to get directions for all of them before our trip next summer.

Begoniacrazii, great closeup of the Medinilla. I fell in love with this plant and will be sure to look for it next year on our trip to Florida.

candela, great selection of plants! Can you give us names of all of them? Looks like you got a few of the same ones we picked up, including the B. paleata. Is that Marmaduke at the top? My husband and I went back and forth trying to decide on a couple of plants that we ended up leaving behind and Marmaduke was one of them. He wasn't crazy about the one I picked and I wasn't crazy about Marmaduke - so we left them both behind! (there they are, still sitting on the bench in the photo below). He's been razzing me ever since as Marmaduke has been popping up everywhere since we've been back and now he sees your picture and said "See - everyone's got it!" :) Funny you should mention giancarlo - he had tracked down a plant for us and we were supposed to try and connect with him while in Miami. We spent so much time at PHOE that we were way behind schedule and weren't able to track him down - so now he's going to have to mail it to us!

candela, We also picked up Carribean King and Forest Shadows. I tried taking pictures of our collection yesterday - unfortunately most of them ended up being too fuzzy to post because I can't keep the camera still enough (the threads are stripped on my camera for attaching a tripod and I'd have to send it back to Olympus for repairs - 6 weeks repair time!!!) However, I did get this close-up of B. paleata - love the texture of its leaves :)
