Raphionacme flanaganii

Hello!

I have a just one of these, so cross pollination in the hope of getting seeds is not very likely. I would like to have a few more of these interesting plants, but don't know for sure what is the right way to propagate it.

So far, I have been snipping off the stems that get close to the grow lights. I have dipped them in rooting hormone & put them into pots with the same soil as the parent plant.

Is this the right way or is there a better way?

I'm not familiar with Raphionacme, but it sounds like you're on the right track. Critterologist posted excellent directions to propagating by cuttings in the following thread: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/503472/

The only thing I would add is to somehow elevate the cuttings so that their tops are not too far from the grow lights. This keeps them sturdier and not as stemmy as they would otherwise be.

If you're not using grow lights, I've also read that taking cuttings after the solstice might be a good idea, because as a general rule, many kinds respond better to increasingly long days.
