Kyle, tell me about this one

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

It is one of yours, cross is Aurea White x New Rothkirch. Please tell me about New Rothkirch.

It is only 5 ft, this is first bloom.

forgot to say, it survived the frost that got this neighbor. They are about 2 ft apart.

neat nice saved one than..

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

The one that got 'frosted' was a KBS cross. I will dig, strip, pot it for the gh. Are some cultivars more cold hardy than others? Aurea White looks fine. Can't wait to get home today and see what the bloom is doing.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I could be wrong Linda, but I think it was Kyle who thought the RK sold to us by NHE should be notated with NEW so in case the European RK made it across or even I guess the hybrids made with the Euro one, they would be differentiated from each other. I had totally forgotten this until I saw your pretty bud.

I think there was some question if the US RK was the real RK. I am not sure where that question stands today. NHE insisted it was the real one.

Am I right Kyle??

I bet you get a pretty white from that! Please post when opened.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Thanks Kell, hope I hear from Kyle soon. I saw him hanging out in the tropicals not long ago.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

You might email him this thread. I do not know how often he comes in here for a visit.

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

My seedling of his from this cross bloomed...11 months from seed to bloom. The trunk is 3.5" thick and the blooms are wonderful!!!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

We need a picture, Carol!!!

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

kell, you are right, until we made positive ID on the rothkirches here I just reffered to it as New rothkirch. the aurea white was a seedling from British stock source years back.Had huge leaves(biggest I have seen) and a medium sized flower, nice spurs and great fragrance.
I kept one seedling of this cross and it bloomed in a few months and grew like a weed.

Linda, more pics!! LOL :-)

Linda, do you leave any of your Brugs outdoors all year? I noticed the Plant Delights catalogue suggests some are hardy here.

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Beautiful glossy flouncy skirt with a nice long thin corolla tube and curly que tendrils!!! Wonderful!!!

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Hi there Fleurs, no most of them are already in the gh or garage. I've been holding out on some to see the bloom. This one fared well, others did not. They will all be in (or on the street) after Thanksgiving.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

LOL :-) I hear ya Linda, I downscaled a lot of brugs this year.

Amazing the shapes you can get from crossing different kinds. I like this one, Linda!! Whites are alway on the top of my like list. So Kyle has another neat one!!

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

She takes my breath away, Linda - I love white!!

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

I took another good look this morning as I was leaving for work. It is soooooo pretty, I just love it.

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

Linda, that is a very pretty white brug. you have there. I love the shape.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Thanks, here it is this evening. I dug it and potted it to bring inside. Hope that doesn't throw it into shock.

Sorry the picture is blurry, it has a stamen but no anthers. Is that because it's so late in the year or what. I looked WAY up in there and there aren't any.

I just love the name Fleurs, Fleurs!!

The shape of this one Linda is really nice. It is so cute. How long is it? It remind me of those little bakelite powder puffs ladies would carry in their purses in the 20s and 30s. The small ones that you pushed up out of their holder. When I get home I will look for a picture of one.

Lots of time I find the first flowering is a bit off, esp in fall. Also I find doubles can take a few bloom cycles to get normal. Maybe this one is just a preteen!

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Kell, the calyx + corolla = 9 inches, width is about 4.5 not counting tendrills

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

Linda those are so purrrrty!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

She's a beauty, Linda.

San Jose, CA(Zone 9b)

Just lovely, Linda. It is such a pretty frou-frou brug. All dressed for the holidays. I've never seen tendrils like that.

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

it's simply gorgeous, thank you for sharing your beauty with us and congrats to you and Kyle!!!

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

I brought it inside, so far, this is probably my favorite because of it's size and shape. I love the 'trumpet' look of this one. It's not gold, guess the flash and being inside did that. It's pretty much white with greenish stripes on the tube.

Here it is with a group shot. It's the small one, far right.

Linda it is really a beauty, elegant, yet flashy, love it!! Mine has three buds and is in the GH, it was 80 today, no humidity and she seems to like her place, she has those buds covered up tonight, good momma, huh?? I just cannot believe she is self pollinating, really fascinating, as well as fun...I have two in the GH but the other one has not Yed yet...

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Who is self pollinating Sherry? I guess a missed a post but I can't go back. I am so pooped. I just got home and have my feet up. I went to 2 grocery stores after work. What a terrible ordeal. Too many people and too much waiting for me. Thanksgiving frenzy!

What a slender doll Linda, I was trying to think of a good name for her. Do you have any in mind?

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

True Arborea White is self pollinating, oooops - I get her and Aurea White x New Rothkirch mixed up everytime, mine look just alike, so similar that I have to check the tags to make sure which one is which. My Aurea White x New Rothkirch has not bloomed yet and i hope she is identical to Linda's...

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

No Kell, this is the first bloom. I would think wait for more blooms to see if they are the same and then it would be up to Kyle.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

I bet he will love it. Is there another one that is similar?? If so, which one? Don't I recall that Carol's bloomed last spring?? I thought for sure mine would bloom right after hers but, instead, it was beheaded in a storm...

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Here is a site where there is more info on this seedling, with a photo from Kyle:
