Another view - same stand..
This one holds most of my epies, stapelia, and some other epiphyllic (sp?) plants. One of my big hoyas is on the top left.....Crimson Princess and there are at least THREE peduncles on it! I'm hoping it'll bloom this spring!
Plant light stand up and runnin
This is my other plant stand - the lighted one. It holds some of my african violets and the bottom shelf has my cacti. On the top shelf, to the left, is the other half of the Crimson Princess that I split apart earlier this spring. (the other half is the one I noted on the stand in my kitchen/dining area & has 3 peduncles). No sign of blooms on this one tho.
Also, you can see the three cuttings I took off my large Compacta this spring. It was really needing repotted and the vines were about 5 feet long. So I cut three off and potted them. There are now TWO penducles on it - but none on the Mother plant! Go figure.
....I also have my two small "hoya huts" (one has African Violets in it - side view in this picture...and the other has all my hoya cuttings) and one larger 'hoya hut' (that hold the rest of my stapelias, Desert Rose plants, "Starfish Cactus", and some others.
As you can see, I REEEEEALLY NEED A GREENHOUSE!!!!!
WOW.......you have a lovely collection Betsy! Ü
Okay - you've got me on a roll.....might as well show you pictures of my "huts"!
This is the large "hoya hut".....sits in what is SUPPOSE to be the 'formal dining room" but I'm not much about "formal" so it's kind of slowly becoming a "study" and a PLANT ROOM!
edited to add: those of you who I've promised "Kentianna" cuttings to....see the littlest pot hanging in the window ~~ 3rd one in? Those are the starts I'm growing for you!! Haven't forgotten aboutcha!

Betsy, what a wonderful collection you have! I with you on formal, I gave our dining room set away, we never sat in there and besides, it made more room for plants!!
Blessings,
Awanda

...and last but not least - - I EVEN HAD TO PUT A PLANT STAND IN MY BEDROOM (gets good east light).
So now you've seen most of my plant areas in my house.....although I didn't take a picture of the lighted plant stand dedicated to my African Violets and various and sundry other potted plants sitting wherever there is light.
As I said, I'm working on DH to buy/build me a hobby greenhouse.....but he is such a good guy to put up with these plants EVERYwhere, eh? =)
Wow Betsy you must have a very wonderful hubby to put up with all of those plants and yes, you do need a greenhouse. This picture is of the kitchen nook area, all the plants are hoyas. Betsy I love your lighted plant stand, looks great!!
Blessings,
Awanda

Betsy,
Keep hauling them in, and tucking them every where. I have a stand right behind my husbands kitchen chair, and the stems keep crawling over there to get him. I could pin them up and tuck them in, but my hopes are he will get sick of them and enclose the back porch for me. Mean while I just keep buying. I think he will snap when I start all my Daylily seeds............
Awanda:
First of all - plants instead of a formal diningroom? YOU GOT THE RIGHT IDEA, GIRL!!! =0) I'm sure your diningroom set was beautiful...but the plants are MORE BEAUTIFUL!
Secondly - ALL your plants look lovely, not just your hoyas!! I love your kitchen nook and see you have "hoya huts" too. Great idea on the lights! How'd you do that??
Show me more!
Tami:
I laughed out loud picturing your DH sitting at his kitchen chair with little hoya fingers reaching out for him! Don't tag them back.....get that porch enclosed instead!! ha ha
At least day lillies can stay OUTSIDE! =0)
Betsy the light stands were with my hubby's old photography stuff, but when I saw them I thought "use them for plant lights". I use the large (120watt) plant bulbs, put them on a timer and there you go!! The Biglots hoya hut on the left is full of rooting hoyas, once they get larger, they will be moved to the lighted plant stand, after that to the greenhouse!!
Blessings,
Awanda
Awanda:
Thanks. Your setup is great. BUT THERE'S THAT WORD AGAIN..
...................GREENHOUSE! gaaaaah! I want one!
Oh dear Betsy, I'm sorry for using the "G" word, would you feel better if I said they'll be moved to the "Big House" :-).
Blessings,
Awanda
LOL! I'm ROTFLMBO!! "The Big House".....sounds like San Quinten or something! hahaha
As Awanda has indicated..... those of you "with one".....PLEASE BE SENSITIVE ABOUT USING THE 'G' WORD AROUND ME, K?! =0)
My hubby is threatening to start moving hoyas around to see if I notice one missing. I told him don't even try it! I know where he sleeps, lol! Heck, I'm considering relocating us to Florida, near my mom, so I can have hoyas outside year round.
Heather
Great pics you gals! Thanks for sharing.
Awanda....why doesn't that hot of light melt that plastic on the one with the cover on??
I can sure relate to wanting a greenhouse, however, even if I had one, I would still want lots of plants around me in the house. I even leave some in here in the summer just so I have them to look at in the evening and when I am on the computer. I like to have them near me like little friends. Hmmm....is that weird? ....ah....confessions of a plant nut. Ha.
Heather...you have your Mom in Florida...and you are still living up there in the cold. Get it together girl and start planing that move NOW.
Marcy, I am torn, I really would like to move back to Los Angeles, but my hubby isn't to wild about that. We are going to Florida in a couple weeks. Kind of a way to figure out where we are best suited. Don't worry, I am planning on exiting the great white north. I promised myself this would be my last winter here.
Heather
Marcy the plant light bulbs don't get hot, so the plastic doesn't melt. Heather you know Arizona has great weather:-).
Blessings,
Awanda
Thanks Awanda, I will keep that in mind! Like I mentioned to you one time, next time I visit Los Angeles, I think I should make a road trip. Well, how far are you from Los Angeles, maybe I'll make a southwest airlines trip!
Heather
Tami, sorry to take so long to respond to your question. The little glass terrarium I purchased at Big Lots. It is only big enough to accommodate one plant in a 4" pot.
Deb
Thanks Deb, I was fooling around with my glass today, and trying to square up a pattern for one. I think I can make one a little bigger with a lifting lid, so I don't have to pick it all the way up, every time I need to water. Gosh I wish they would get a Big Lots here, I'm feeling left out.
Great pictures Ladies!!!
Tami, go to Overstock's website. They sell the mini greenhouses, I think you can get a large one for $39.99. 4 shelves, they have $1 shipping a lot of times. Just hold out for that. Be careful, they also have the same looking greenhouse for $49.99. I'm not sure why, maybe different brands.
Heather

Wow, yes, how long ago did you find that at Menards? What a score!!!
Heather
Heather:
That's what IIIIIIII thought - WHAT A SCORE! I got it several weeks ago (3 maybe). There were TONs of them stacked up outside in the garden center. Call your local Menards and ask; tell then you KNOW there are some in the Forsyth/Decatur, Illinois store. Maybe they will ship one up the a Menards close to you!
Good luck!
Betsy

Wow that is a nice score. No Menards here. I have never even heard of this store befor.
No Big Lots, no Menards whats a back woods girl to do? I had two of the smaller ones that SandyC picked up for me about 3 years ago from Big Lots. Don't tell her but I sold them in my yard sale when I moved.. Shhhhh :)
I was inquiring about Debs little glass green house thing she has sitting on her shelf. If any one does stain glass and has a pattern to one of these, I would love to get a copy of it.
Tami
Tami, I got mine like the one Bets is showing at Dollar General for $20. I got the only one left and called every Dollar General in town for more, but no luck. Then I found one slightly larger (and orange) at Lowe's, but it was $39.99. At the time it didn't matter, I got it. When the stores start to put their Spring gardening stuff out do at least a weekly to bi-weekly check of the stores and grab them if you find them. They are worth their cost, believe me.
Barb
Heather Biglots will have them in January if you can wait. I know their schedule and they get in the spring items then:-).
Blessings,
Awanda
Excellent, I think I should be able to survive until January. I got my new camera today, look out, for some pictures!
Heather
Heather, got mine yesterday. Someone has to give me lessons.. Even if I push the macro, my pictures are still a blur. The manual is like greek to me. You show me your pictures I'll show ya mine !!!!
Tami
