you ought to see her walk! The view from behind is hilarious! She really does 'waddle', Amber has a happy little bounce to her walk. And their tails are always pointed up in the air!

We had a Thomas O'Malley The Alley Cat, straight out of the Aristocats! Now we have Thing One and Thing Two, yesterday, the Things were chasing each other and T2 came sprinting through a sitting area, where I had just potted up some Nerine bulbs, of course he tried to leap over the pot and missed, knocking bulbs and soil everywhere! Just like a scene from the book!

Their names have all morphed into funny little nick names. Kitty Margerita became, Maggie, which became Maga-lena, which became Waggie, which became Wagi-lay-nee. so now I just call her Waggie-Lay-Nee With-The-Baggie-Belly, because she is a complete toad and her belly hangs to the ground and jiggles. Not that there's a problem with a little jiggle, Lord knows I have my own (Shhhh...) but when you see her run (if you want to call it that) it swings from side to side, it's a hoot.

Thomas O'Malley the Alley Cat became Tooter-Mouse which morphed to Tooter-mouski-tooskies (and so on..you get the rediculous picture! and we have like 9 cats all together - mostly barn cats)

Amber is of course , Amberlina Balerina... when she enters a room, she always does this 'dainty' stretch (how dainty can an 80 pound basset be?) and she points here toes forward.

I found this thread to be sooo cute! I had to bump it up and add my own helpers. From back to front is Annie 5lbs, Evie 8lbs, and Paris 4.5 lbs, all rescues. Evie, the cream is Mom's poodle and her fav gardening task is running round and round the pond trying to catch frogs :~D My girls help me surf DG every day from their bed under the puter desk. In the garden they chase the cats, guard the perimeter from deer and wabbits, and beg me to pick them up so they don't get their feet dirty. Mom's Evie loves getting dirty and usually has to have a shower with Mom every evening during gardening season. She loves showers and getting blow dried, even if she doesn't get bathed she's at your feet begging while you dry your hair.

Wow! this is an old thread! Yea for poodles! My girls are presently having a howl fest, where one basset bays like a fool and the others join in the chorus! It's a regular riot this morning. So they're not helping much in the garden!

Sounds like a very noisy riot to me! LOL

Love all y'all's kitty and puppy photo's! We have 4 cats in our family. All lazy! One that died a few months back weighed 25 lbs at her heaviest. That is big for a female cat. She hated other cats, always wanted to be an only child. I can never come up with good pet names. Ours are Coco, Cali, Cookie, Bonnie and Princess. Actually, Coco is no longer with us. We had a cat once (lived to be 24!) named Tweety ... and a Parakeet named Sylveste. People used to all the time tell us it was backwards, but we had to explain that we had Sylvester the bird first and he knew his name and would come when called, so we couldn't change his name on him. So the cat became Tweety! My sister has friends who had dogs years ago named 1 Potatoe, 2 Potatoe and Sweet Potatoe! I knew someone once who had a dog named Cucumber! Always wished I were that clever to think up neat names!

Here's a photo of our "Miss Princess" (who should be named Queen) relaxing in a favorite spot:

Thanks Lana, it doesn't look so good right now. We were predicted to have temp's @ 28 degrees last night, so I had to drag all my plants inside and the ones that wouldn't fit inside, I had to cover with blankets. Luckily, the weather folks mis-predicted. I checked about 3:30 a.m. and it was 31 and then at 7:15 it was 33. My huge Shefflera's and huge Tree Philodendron's in the yard were okay, no frost, so no damage at all! I thought for sure those would be mush this morning. We've had real mild winters the past 5 or so years, with no heavy frost and no hard freezes. Hoping we get away this year without any too!

That's good news. We've had mostly a warm winter but have also had some record cold. I lost a begonia in the window sill to that record cold subzero weather and I'm worried about perennials in pots outside. Will just have to wait and see on those.

Here's my usual helper, Darby. She's not mean at all (even tho' she looks like it here). I think she got mad because I scared the hummies away from the feeder when I took her picture! My other helper, 110lb black lab Sonny doesn't get to help much, he's too much like a bull in a china shop!
