Fall was lasting for a lovely long time this year, but it is definitely over today. I had to get outside to shed that feeling of hibernation for a wee bit today.
That cooped up feeling already
A webfriend on Sheltiemania who lives in Winnipeg posted some pics this morning too.
You sure got dumped on! Nothing here - yet!
oh yuk! give me the west coast wet winter anytime
Wondered who would be the first to say that!
Afraid I agree - grew up in southern Ontario, and had enough snow then to last me for a lifetime - rain is ok, not as pretty as your pics, but less confining....
Gee echoes your yard looks to be the spitting image of mine. After 24 hours of white/grey/black tho I must admit I spent some time at the window today and admired it in the lovely sunshine. There is something about seeing it sparkle that takes the doldrums away.
Plus the knowledge that, by the end of the week, our temps will be climbing up again. Ü
Pam in snowy white but very ☼ Saskatchewan
The first snowfall is always a bit of a shock. We had a bit today in Ottawa, but nowhere near as much. However, I love to snowshoe and that requires a lot more snow. And if it didn't get cold, the canal would not freeze over for skating; so I think perhaps the interim time is the most difficult when we don't have enough winter to enjoy it yet.
Great pictures echoes.
Ann
Oh boy I am out numbered. Echoes I love your photo's- I can just see how peaceful the clean snow looks. I love the way the sun sparkles on each flake and how quiet the earth is. Pam's got that pegged. As long as the sun comes out I don't mind the snow. The air always smells better after too.
I know the plants will all be put to bed and they will surprize me in the spring.... meanwhile I can rest and dream of the warm spring that is sure to arrive.
Linda .. I am one that needs to have some sun shine and the grey skies of the coast are not for me. A visit is great and I do enjoy the sea views but the long summer days here with daylight are a big drawing card for me. Good job some of us like the prairies
otherwise we'd sink your lovely island.
Ann
Thanks Ann of the music and Ann of the west. So well said. Yes if it has to be winter, it's nice to have a clean white blanket over the scene. I was still enjoying the colour in some beds, until I covered a lot with flax straw, this past weekend, so I hadn't got to that dull grey depressing stuff yet. Grass was still green. I hope it doesn't warm up too much and melt it. I just heard we are suppose to get rain on Friday, but who can believe a forcast with that much fore. Sun is out again, making a nice pink glow over it all as it goes down.
A winter wonderland!!! How beautiful Brenda!
I can't wait for the snow to come here because that means I can break out my skis and rev up the new snowmobile. There's nothing like riding the trails up north and taking in the snow-covered scenery.
Erynne
LOVE that last pic!
The picture of the wagon is what Calendars are made of.
Very nice.
Ken
I'm so glad you like them. Nice to see you in here, Ken. Erynne the snowmobiles are already out this afternoon.
echoes - first snow pictures I've seen this year.
You certainly captured it well, but then you have lovely material to work with.
Good stuff
Joan
You should enter some of them in the photo contest.
Ann
Thanks for your appreciation Joan, Ann. Ann, I guess I could think about it, but where? Which ones? Pam you got some too, but not as much, eh. But you've had a teaser already. That "sunset" is actually facing east at sunset.
The photos are beautiful, but I'm afraid I'm not much of a "true Canadian" when it comes right down to it. I love the look - when I can stay inside looking out :-) I don't do winter "fun" as I get cold far too easily, regardless of how well I dress in how many layers. The forecast for my area is for snow, possibly squalls, beginning tonight and going right through Friday, with watmer temps and rain for the weekend. --Ginny
Very nice Pam. I like other people's snow pictures. laff
Joan
;b Ah well will hit your area sooner or later Joan (and then the army will be called out).
Brrrrrrr...I am watching this and get out my winter coat, just from looking at the pictures! They are beautiful.
Funny the same sight made us do that too. ;) Still wearing clogs with bare feet however......think I'll have to break down, visit Sears, and get a new lining for my Sorrels.
Sorrels? eh?
