Has anyone ever started camellia seeds? I found some on my bush.

Reading my American Horticultural Society: Plant Propagation for Camellia

Seeds in Autumn or Spring

Gather seeds as soon as the fleshy fruits split. Sow fresh, or soak the hard seed coats in hot water before sowing in spring.

They make good subjects for hybridizing.

I read up on it a bit too, one of the most interesting ideas I ran across was:

fill a jar with lid 1/2 with damp vermiculite, lay seed on side and push into starter mix, cover and place in warm place. watch for sprouts, root comes out and down first then shoot out and up.

I've got them soaking now, we'll see what happens.

Great, let us know how it do.

Good Luck
