Hi Julie!

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

HI Maria!

~julie~

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

Hey does this mean a daily thread from here on out????

I thought I read somewhere that on number 50 you were going to change this to a daily thread??

I am still waiting for the pictures to finish uploading at Denises so she can send them to me. I am for sure going to be assuring we have DSL before we move. My kids will freak out on dial up......

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Wow! Can't keep up. It does seem, upon scanning the past messages, that this thread is going to the dogs! LOL

Seriously, Ernie, I'm so glad that Jennie will be all right and Samson is an exciting move for Maria.

Been at work most of the day. We started to do referrals for the Christmas Exchange today. This year they are a combined referral for the Salvation Army's toys as well which means that the referral forms are much more complicated. I hope my volunteers are able to get it sorted out. I"m not sure that I'll be able to pick up on all omissions if they don't when I'm looking at stacks of 50 and 60 client files at a times.

And I got a stack of new music for my handbell choir a couple of days ago. Am wokring at getting it marked and assigned so that we can work on the ones for Christmas. It looks as though we have the Dec. 9 gig at the American Embassy though I've not yet received final confirmation. That means lots to work on in the next month.

I got out tonight to the grocery store. First chance I've had since I got my new fridge on Saturday. After three weeks of trying to wind down the contents of the old one, I really needed to buy groceries.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the weather co-operates tomorrow afternoon and lets me get some spring bulbs planted. They came on Saturday and finished on Monday building a retaining wall for my new garden. It's not supposed to be too cold for the next few days; so it's possible that I might be able to get into the garden.

Gotta say goodnight and work on a few other things.

Ann

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

The last thread had a wider format, and I couldn't see the author and the message at the same time, so glad this one fits on my screen!

I have been out and about all day, so had a lot of catching up to do. Took DM to Dr. to have blood drawn, we do this once a month as she is on blood thinner. Went to the grocery and to walmart. Even shopped for me, mother and mother-in law and was still home in about 4 hours. Local church started Revival tonight, so went to that also. So is has been a busy and full day.

Ewee, so glad to hear that Jenny, or priceless princess in home and seems to be doing well.

Darius. are you felling better? Will you being your trip tomorrow?

Bal the wood working is lovely, How is the new fur kid?

Carart at first, I thought you were talking about son in law, then went back and reread, and you are talking internet connections!! LOL. Bout gave me a heart attack.

Viola Ann, aren't you supposed to be retiring? whats the effective date. I just love hearing the hand bells, seems so mysterious, and complicated.

Babs, glad to see that you are back , and am so sorry that mum was ill.

Maria, I am so glad that Sampson, is "home". He is a dear sweet golden. Dogs are such company. I know in no time you will have him trained for anything. My Mr. B. sleeps at the foot of my bed, and comes in handy for the foot warming thing.

To those I have not addressed specifically, hello to all of you. Don't mean to leave anyone out, but after trying to catch up, can't remember everything, and tonight didn't make any notes.

My tomorrow is busy also, but will check in from time to time, and see what's going on. I was able this afternoon, to bring in those plants that I am wanting to save, and to pack away my dahlia bulbs, and glads. So the day was productive.

Night all, sweet fluffy dreams to each of you.

Here is the link to the new pictures. If you are drinking something hot please place it away from the computer and yourself when looking at the picture with my question. I am not going to be sued for burns.

When I was at the property at the first of Sept. it had not been mowed since the previous fall. So the grass and weed growth was up to my waist, and we really couldn't get to far inward in the wooded areas because of the beloved Kudzu over growth. So in the offer I requested that the current cleared area be mowed. My realtor then went a took a couple pictures and those are the only ones I had until these. WOW, stuff that I didn't know was in front of me is there. LOL

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Good Morning Everyone - oh what excitement you've all had!! Ernies mega bucks little one and Maria's energetic big one! I'm just waiting to see where Samson slept...wherever he wanted to is what I bet!! So Maria, is he on trial or is he yours for good?

Temps are going to be in the 70's today and I am going to the movies - not what I really want to do.

Went out with the 'girls' last night to a new restaurant down the road from me - excellent service -food was good too. I won't even tell you what I had - but had tums in my mouth all night (when will I ever learn....) Going out for lunch today - chicken noodle soup please! DH was grousing about all the $$ I spend going out - he is right, I need to cool if a little bit.

Darius your packed truck sounds funny - where's the pic of it? Hope you have a safe journey.

Babs your mom sounds like a fiesty gal - I admire that. Hate hearing whiners (my MIL) May I remember that whe I reach that age!!

Defo - I am on the once a month blood tests with my MIL too - I dread them as she is such a downer - never anything positive to say and complains constantly.

Vio- thought you were retiring!! Who submits the names? Every Thanksgiving day in our newspaper they have "wishes" from people. It is a thick, multi-paged insert with the names of people and what they wish for. Some are so sad. Happily, most of the wishes are granted. We have a very caring, compassionate community here -I'm proud to be living here. (asking for dental work, health stuff, household items, cars, computers, additions to homes) They are from people in real need, so it is a totally worthwhile thing.

Bal, what are the panels for?? Must have missed something. And you are carving them??? Man, you are a Jack of all trades!!

Time to hit the shower....

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Good morning all,

I lurked a bit yesterday afternoon but didn't say much. I was pooped. The generator never turned off and by 4am I figured I might as well get up and get ready since I still had lights. That things never ran out of gas until after 5am and I was long gone on the road north by then.

So I got into town yesterday, did my thing with the banker and went to see the trailer being readied for the move. They were just finishing putting in the rest of the carpeting and linoleum and cleaning. All was going well except the furnace/condenser compartment was filthy. Looks like the prior owners never knew how to change a filter, or they never had one in. I change mine once a month. So they have to clean that area out.

They also won't be moving it today, but tomorrow so I stay one more day. The plants I left on the property 2 weeks ago are doing very well and there has been little rain. The plants I left here at my friends house a month ago, need a little more water but are doing okay. I'm moving them out today and put them with what I dropped yesterday. Maybe go to Amaryllisgals and pick up the ones I left there from the roundup. So many plants at so many places. My brother has my daylilies and hostas and I think I may have 2 more van loads to bring north.

It's cool up here and I am wearing borrowed flannel. Do you think I even thought about bringing a jacket when I left home yesterday? Nope. Welcome Molly to the real world.

:^))))

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Good Morning everybody!
Looked at the pictures, Casey, what wonderful open land, you will be able to grow mosr anything without the tedious job of clearing it before
such as too many trees.

Hope you will have beautiful weather for gardening, Ann, you are a very busy woman also preparing for the holidays with so many activities coming up.
Just came in for a walk with Samson and, Defoe, he is very well behaved , did not jump up my bed nor occupied and of the other chairs, not even the chaise that is in the bedroom, half of him was under my bed, his face turned so as if to make sure I am where I sleep, LOL
I did not take Ambian though I was up till the wee hours of the morning but I feel much more alive right now.

Another beautiful autumn day
Maria

Starkville, MS

Maria - I wish you and Samson a very happy life together.

I am so glad all this moving around isn't contagious - I'd hate to catch the bug. I really don't want to be anywhere except here in my Briarpatch! I wish you all the best on your moves and new life. I keep losing track of who is going where!

So glad Jenny is better. It would be great if you could believe she learned a lesson about what to chew on, but we all know that *we* are the ones who have to learn for them, and try to keep them safe. I had one dog that was bad about chewing on oil bottles, and every time the oil in a car got change, I had to gather up the containers, count them to make sure I had them all, then take them away. She would dig them out of anything I put them here.

Darius - forgot to post Happy Birthday yesterday, though I thought it many times. Hope you feel better today. When things settle down for you, I would be interested in hearing more about your gourd paper pulp. Sounds like something right up my ally.

To all others - I wish you a beautiful day!
ginni

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Good morning,

Looks like today will be the best pick of the weekend for gardening. Don't know how much time I will have. I COULD skip Aquafit, but it's dreary out and cold at this time; so I may as well go. DH is still in Inuvik - back tomorrow. That means I'll have to fetch grand-kids and take them to Kindermusik this early afternoon. (Thursday is usually the day DH "hangs out" with them). Anyway, it's about a 35 minute drive over to their house and about 15 back to Kindermusik; so a bunch of time in the car. My church is about half-way between; so I'll stop by there one way or the other to get the new music in the handbell books.

I AM retiring from the Food Cupboard, and we've hired my successor, but I'm not leaving till the end of January. If someone new were to come in just before Christmas, they'd quit for sure. There's just so much going on. We give out the food at record rates, but it comes in even faster. And with just having distributed close to 14,000 appeal letter between our door-to-door drop and the directed appeal to previous donors, the financial donations come in 10 or more daily. Couldn't possibly turn it over to someone completely new and expect them to keep it all working. And in January there will be a lot of transitioning into the new year, and end of year reports.

So, my successor will start to work with us in the middle of December. We want him to experience what it's like at Christmas time without having the responsibility for making it work. And we will have January at a slightly more leisurely pace to bring him up to snuff on everything else. It's a long transitioning time, but I may use some of it as vacation so that they don't owe me a lot of vacation pay when I leave.

Molly, I chuckle a bit when I hear out cool it is where you are. Good thing you aren't REALLY up north where it freezes most nights now. ;-) But sudden transitions of temperature are more challenging than the gradual ones we get when the season changes. Hope all goes well for you.

Sarv - when you talk about the "wishes" from people, I can relate on a smaller scale. I put my old fridge (14yr old 20 cu ft Amana working very well - I just hated it) out on Freecycle and asked people to tell me why they needed it. I've got 9 requests to sort out and choose 1. And I think all are legitimate needs.

gotta go have breakfast and be in the pool in an hour.

Ann

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Good morning, Molly, we must have posted about the same time, yes some times we all forget the changes of the seasons, to many warm clothes as it gets warmer and not enogh as it gets colder, I do it every year :-)

Edited to say, it takes a very long time to get something posted in DG this morning, hope it is not my computer

Well already up and at it today. I have to go to the bank this morning, and take my MIL to have some papers notarized. Then to get my hair cut. Home, where I will be cooking. DM's church group is having their Thanksgiving meal tonight. DH asked why so early, and the answer is, they only meet once a month, and this is the regular monthly meeting. I am cooking the turkey and dressing, DM had volunteered to do it, but the last time she cooked a turkey it was inedible. How do you say, I will do it because yours isn't good? I just told her that I didn't want her to spend too much time in the kitchen, and be so tired that she wouldn't enjoy the evening!!

Maria, how sweet Samson, stayed under your bed. Just making sure that you didn't go anywhere probably. Are your Ambien 10 mg? I still occasionally take it, but break it in two. So only take 5 mg, not too many side effects that way.

Sarv, going out for lunch again today? Do you have a scheduler, to keep up with where you need to be on a certain day? Have fun.

Molly, so things are finally starting to move for you. So glad to hear it. You are going to have to listen to your weather man, so you will know how to dress there. Nothing worse than being too hot or too cold. Dress in layers, that way, you can take it off until you get comfortable.

Well I am off, will check in again about noon. Keep the chatter down please, don't have much time to spend catching up.!!

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Popping in to say "HI" to everyone. I was under the weather for a couple of days there, and really didn't read any of the postings. Just kept an eye out for the number of posts at the top of the page. Didn't want anyone to have a long wait to download the thread. :-)

Casey, yes...I said that #50 would be the last of the session numbers. So tonight before I go to bed I'll start a "'Coffee and...' Nov 4, 2004" thread for tomorrow. I'' do it for a week or so, barring any "I feel asleep before I could get the thread started" nights. LOL Then we'll talk about how we can pass the baton for thread starting around amongst our regular visitors.

I loved seeing the pics of your new property! And I'm so excited for you! I've moved long distances several times during the past 40 some odd years...and I must say, I don't envy you that move one bit. It's much easier when you have a moving van come and load up the entire household at once than doing it over several (or many) trips on your own. (We've done it both ways...LOL)

Maria...It's so good to see you get some 'life' back into your "voice". I hope Samson won't disappoint you in any way. We had a Golden way back when...and I have to tell you, he was one of the most wonderful owners we ever had. LOL They *are* wonderful companions!

Ernie...glad to see that 'Pricey Princess' is home and doing well. We went through the "pricey" part with one of our Rottweillers a couple of years ago. He went through the Heartworm treatment...he made it through that horrible time but the vet warned us that he might not live very long afterward. We had to have him put down about 16 months later. (And, yes...we *did* have him on the heartworm treatment before he got sick. Still not sure why he got them.)

Molly! HI!!! Sounds like you're getting things accomplished even though you're still having setbacks, it won't be long before you're able to settle into your new home. You'll be surprised at quickly the time will pass.

Darius...I'm so envious of your ability to jump into your truck and 'trundle' down to Florida! (I just wish I had that kind of independence built into my spirit!) Hope your foot is healing well and will give no trouble.

Ann...you are an amazing person...I loved visition your web site. And I'd love to hear that handbell choir play! I'm not sure what it is about handbells, but they always bring back memories of my childhood. You are such an active person...you make me tired just reading about all the interesting things you're involved in.

I'm probably leaving out a lot of important things here. But I haven't read the posts for the past 2 threads. (SHAME on me!)

Yesterday, I tried really hard to take advantage of the gorgeous day we had here. I went outside with every intention of digging up the last of my cannas and two more groups of glads. I ended up playing "momma" to my DGD and her daddy. I HATE the messes that divorces make...they seem like a CSI crime scene...the 'blood' stays on the floor no matter how hard you try to clean it up. (Boy! Have I got a SICK sense of humor! LOL)

Today is the "no so D MILs" birthday. Notice I said MIL not DM...yet it's *MY* responsibility to make sure she has a b'day gift. Looks like I send flowers, one more time. At least that way I don't have to buy a mushy card that in no way reflects *my* sentiments...and then have to listen to "how nice" the card was. (Yuck!!!) I suggested that now that he is retired, DH *could* make the trip to the Chicago area and *see* his mother...HA! Like that's ever going to happen. All I can say is I'm sure glad *my* sons don't feel that way about *me*.

Enough of the nastiness for one post. LOL

Just remember we're in our last "session" here and that future 'Coffee and..." threads will be on a daily basis. I'll post a link to the first 'Daily Coffee and...' late this evening.

Im the meantime, y'all have a great day! (and to those who will be on the road...have a SAFE trip!)

~julie~

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Maria, Samson sounds like a keeper, Goldens love everybody so there won't be a long adjustment period for him, just for you! I think he's going to be a wonderful companion for you. I wouldn't let him on the bed either, he's too big! And I can say that, in spite of having at least three cats wound around us every night. It's much easier to shift a cat when you want to turn over than a 70 lb. dog!

Ernie your little Jenny is now officially worth her weight in gold! She has such a sweet little face, but you'll have to watch her like a hawk after this episode, or be heading for the poor house. (They don't have those anymore, do they?) She's so precious.

Ann, you are so busy, you and Robert make the rest of us look like loafers! It's hard to train someone to do a job that has become second nature to yourself....I hope your replacement takes lots of notes, or he'll be calling you with questions forever.

Robert, those panels are going to be spectacular! I love the pattern, and if they turn out like the previous ones, it will be a real enhancement to your home.

Jasmerr, take a look at the Taste of Home website and see what cookbooks they have that you are interested in. I know the Complete Guide etc. is half price this month, and I'm picking up two for Carat, but don't know which of the others are also on sale. The four for ten sale is over, unless they still have some left, but if you can be specific on titles it would help. I'll probably get over there tomorrow (Friday) so LMK.

Hey, Carat, think of all the free horse apples you can get from your neighbors! They probably have piles that are already "old" which will be great for your new gardens.

And Molly's on the verge of moving in to her new home! Lots of space to fill, but I'll bet she'll get lots of starts from her DG friends! Darius should be on the road today, I hope she feels better than yesterday. Those DMV photos are worse than Got Arrested photos, thankfully we don't really look like that! Mine is now 8 years old, and they didn't take a new picture and I'm renewed for another 8 before they take another one, and if they are going to rely on that to identify me, they are in for a shock in 2012. If I'm even still alive!

Enjoyed our dinner with DS and DIL last night, but DH said, after we got home "well, I ate the spaghetti but I sure am spoiled..." LOL
The sauce was straight out of a jar and pretty bland, but that poor girl never learned to cook so I thought she did a great job of getting everything done on time! Max is in their guest room for the time being, until their two cats get used to the "stranger". Howard will be joining them weekend after next, which should insure that the cats will bond into a "get the dog" gang.

Enough from this end. Work on chair. Plant bulbs. Lots to do and it's going to be a gorgous day! See ya later!

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

I just went back and read the very first session of the Coffee and... thread. I started it on Dec 27, 2004. Mary...do you realize that YOU were my very first visitor?!

And, to think you guys have stuck it out for nearly a YEAR!!! We'd better start planning one heck of an ANNIVERSARY party! WHO has BISCOTTI??? :-D

Man did that thread bring back the memories!

Did someone say PARTY! Count me in. I can bring some good spiked cider: Warm some apple cider with mulling spices. Put a shot of vanilla schnapps or butterscotch schnapps in your mug, pour in the hot cider and sit back and relax.

Can someone send the cleaning fairy to my house while i'm at work today? I was late this moring, kept finding "one more thing" to do before i left.

Maria- sound like you and Samson are bonding. Send more pictures!

Hope everyone that is travelling has safe journey

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Good morning. Julie, I didn't realize that, it was more than 5 minutes ago! Lots more. I knew I was at the table pretty early and I do remember it was about the time the seed catalogs were rolling in, and I had recieved a decorative windmill for Christmas and was wondering what to do with it. The flower bed I am planning to put in for it has started to become a reality but a long way from being done, and the windmill is still in the shop where my hubby assembled it. I am starting another lasagna bed for the windmill, got some large cardboard and hauled a few bucket loads of soil (front end loader on the tractor buckets so that's quite a bit) but need more cardboard before I can continue. Didn't think of that when I was in town yesterday....... I'll have to go back and read the original Coffee and.... thread. I remember that on one of the early threads we posted some pictures so we could get some faces with the names.

M5, lol at cats ganging up on the dogs. At one time we had 2 German Shepherds that had never seen a cat they didn't chase, then we took in a stray kitten who might have weighed all of a pound or two, he had them both trained in no time. He would hide under a chair and when the dog walked by he attacked the tail then disappeared, and they never knew where or when the beast would attack them. I walked the dogs around holding their collars for a couple of days while the kitty got his act together and he handled it just fine after that. Same cat backed a strange dog down our driveway a few years later, back arched, tail fluffed like a bottle brush, hissing and growling, dog just kept backing up. It was a hoot to watch!

Sarv, I hope you have fun at your lunch, but eat healthy, it is much better in the long run.

Maria, I think you will soon be wondering why you didn't get a dog sooner. Just having another living being in the house is a comfort. You can tell a dog anything and they keep secrets very well, and wag their tail and look at you with those soft brown eyes........... yes, it will be good.

Today I am concentrating on yard work, so I need to get breakfast and get out there. Back later when I stop for tea or rain.

Lambertville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Magoo, if you had to clean up after my guys you'd probably run, run very fast!

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

SuzieQ...I neglected to give you a a hearty "WELCOME to the Table!" So here it is... WELCOME to our TABLE!!!

And if Anne wants to be a cleaning freak...she can start at MY house! hehehe I wouldn't mind in the least. It's taken all summer to create the mess I'm living in right now...and fully expect it will take ALL WINTER to clean it up again....just in time to start the cycle all over. :-D

I really need to get my chores done so I can take advantage of the beautiful day we're about to embark on.

Later!

~julie~

Lambertville, NJ(Zone 6a)

MaryE - the story about the cat chasing the dog down the driveway is too funny. My 1 1/2 year cat old likes to chase dogs also. Last weekend my sister brought over her greyhoud and my cat chased her all over the house. Now the dog doesn't want to come anywhere near my house!. They live next door so they walk around our property frequently.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Mary, I am very happy to have finally decided to have some one else in my house as long as it is not a two legged one, LOL,
also have discovered I am NOT allergic to him :-)) but I rceived burn marks on my hand from him pulling on the leash, should wear gloves will the next time

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Magoobu, come over here quick, DH called and asked if I wanted to play golf this afternoon with him....so we're off to play, bulbs, chair and housework put aside for fun....no cleaning elves showing up here ever! That's all right, it will be waiting for me when I get home....if I can talk him into a burger or something after, I can get out of cooking for the second night in a row.....

I started going back on our old threads about a week ago, I think we know more about each other than our DHs do . The early birds were MaryE, Darius, Okus, Betsybug, Blooms, Marciageiger, Kooger, Sarv....I've dropped off some that don't show up regularly any more, but probably lurk occasionally. Others have joined us more recently but those are the ones I see early on who have stuck with it. It certainly does call for a party! It certainly has been a pleasure for me to meet you all, and if I miss a day I have to hustle to catch up because I miss you!

I did throw a load of whites in the washer so I'm not a total goof off and I made the bed. DH hasn't golfed with me in two years so it should be interesting....lol...he has no idea how bad my game has gotten.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

I played a lot of golf, Sheila, quite a few years ago with my husband, though I was on the Mass state team , he always beat me, would not even let me win LOL

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Sheila...I hope you have a wonderful time off playing gold with your DH. I sometimes wish I had more in common with mine so we could occasionally do things together. (You know it's *your* fault that I went back to those early threads. All because of that apple pie I 'ate'. hehehe) Have you decided whether or not we'd make good buddies for a road trip? You told me it took a while to decide whether we'd make it the same car. HAHAHA You're 100% right on when you say we probably know each other better than 'better halves.' LOL

I miss this gang too, when I can't be around as much as I'd like. I want to if Sarv has ever gotten over her *need* for frozen oreos, I want to know if Ann has any new projects waiting in the wings, if Mary has been able to get her horse to behave better for for, if Robert's wife realizes what a treasure she has in him, if Ernie OR Robert are in the 'market' for a new wife (hehehehe I got first dibs on BOTH of them!) if the new puppies/kitties/canine companions (and the old ones, too) are all doing ok?...I even *dream* about this group of people. (And you should HEAR some of the things I dream about! LOL)

Yep...over this past 10 months I've really come to think of y'all as my 'family.'

Mary, I was wondering about that windmill...and your new lasagne gardens.

OH (...as she snaps back into the REAL world!) Who is that was talking about BIRDHOUSE gourds??? D.Cat? was that you? I have some questions! So whoever it was...I hope you remember. (lol) I have a *bunch* of them sitting on my greenhouse platform. Should they be brought inside to 'dry out' or cure? Is there anything I need to do to make sure they 'make it' through the winter? And what do you do with them next spring?

Gotta run...
~julie~

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Hey Gobs! I was up and in chat at 630 this morning, but I didn't get to this thread untill now. I am going to start doing my long posts again just as soon as my bum will let me. I ended up standing by the computer for half of the chat, sheesh.

Yesterday was large item free trash day, and I tossed the Christmas tree. I've been getting more and more fed up with it, branches breaking ect. It was an old one of my parents and it got moved around alot when we were in the military. The only place it didn't go was Germany, and we had real trees over there, I did like the smell, and the mess wasn't too bad, but I do fear fire so I kept them well watered!! So now I have to decide whether to buy a new artificial, or go back to real trees. Would you all be so kind as to advise me and tell me about your experiences? If I do purchase another artificial, it will be a 71/2 foot pre lit, with the Always On lights, I looked at those last year and if one light goes out, the rest of the tree stays lit. I have alot of ornaments, so I need as many tips as I can find, at least 3000, I just saw one like that advertised for $189.00. So what would you do?

I'm going outside for a bit to do some clean up, it is going to be 71* here and windy! In IOWA! In November! I wanted to strip the bed and hang the sheets and the comforter out, but dh beat me to the bed, lol, he works 3rd shift. I was busy in chat and didn't think of it untill he was already snoring. I could wash the extra pair of sheets and hang them out, but my favorite ones are on the bed right now. I found 400 thread count ones on clearance at Bed Bath and Beyond, and I had a 40% coupon, so they were very affordable. They started out at $350 for the king size, and I got them for $60. And I just love them, light "Blu" with a sateen(sp?) stripe. I wish I had gotten another set, but I didn't think of it untill they were all gone. I did get a twin size set for my dad and he really likes his too. He never buys stuff like that for himself, mom always did. I got him nice towels for Christmas last year. I don't know what I'm going to get for him this year. He is 73. Please send a few healing thoughts his direction, his little dog Chelsea isn't doing real well. She is 14, and her murmer that she was born with has recently become an issue. She is on Lasix to try to get rid of some of the fluid she has retained, but she isn't eating much. She has always been on the tubby side (I used to call her an armadillo with fur) but she is really boney right now with a big distended belly. I'm worried. Dad will be so lost when she goes, they got her right before my mom died, and he feels connected to mom thru Chelsea. She is a Lhasa Apso/Sheltie mix, kinda looks like a little fox.

Oh yeah, I chatted with Darius right before she left on her road trip. She was feeling a bit better than yesterday, but not much. I wished her a safe and healthy trip from all of us.

So much for a short post, sheesh.

Enjoy your day!

Well back from the court house and getting my hair cut. I stopped by Office Depot and bought DH a phone case. Then rushed home to a fully cooked turkey. Just made the dressing, and have that in the oven right now. So it seems everything is set for tonight's dinner meeting. DM protested when I offered to cook the turkey and dressing, but I told her I didn't want her in the kitchen all afternoon, and be too tired to go tonight. And she gave in. Well, I am off to do some yard work as the weather here is 73, windy and sunny. So will check in later this evening.

Oh you all crack me up with the golf. DH loves to golf, to bad golf doesn't like him more. The only thing about golf that I like is that it gets DH out of the house so I can get stuff done with out him being under foot. Now I did try it once, I ended up loosing a few good balls, whacked some stranger in the shin, and the club slipped out of my hand and went into the pond. I think I will just stick with less dangerous things.

Maria, I wish I could tell you how glad I am that you and Samson have each other now. Everyone needs to have someone, and a dog is a wonderful friend. Just give him a couple weeks he will have you trained and acting like a well behaved owner.

MG-I hope your dads little Chelsea is feeling better soon. How about getting dad a larger TV or maybe a DVD player and some of his favorite movies. Dads are so hard to buy for.
I love 400ct sheets. I managed to get a set at Tuesday Morning for about 50-60 dollars awhile back. I too didn't get the chance to go back and get another set until they were all gone. I just bought DD a beautiful set of white egyptian cotton towels there for christmas. We get everything for her in neutral tones. She can't make up her mind what color she wants and I am not doing the exchange thing.
I have a 7 1/2 ft douglas christmas tree with the prelights fitted into it. I bought it as a late christmas present last year. My old tree just looked pityful and sad. I haven't had the chance to have this one set up yet, but in the store it was beautiful, full and didn't look plastic and fake. I bought it at JC Penneys the day after christmas and it was half price and I had a coupon so I ended up paying less then a 75.00 for it.

Darius, sorry I missed your departure this morning but I don't get up that early for anyone since if I can get away with it. Drive safe on your next leg of the trip and try to keep in touch. Enjoy yourself.

Wow, I didn't think this thread line was that old. You all have alot to chat about. I think I only went back to the early summer months. I know that by the time I caught up and posted I felt as though I had known you all for years. And if by chance we all take a road trip will have to travel in a large vehicle with enough room for all the depends we are going to be needing. We wont make it anywhere stopping every 5 minutes for a potty break.

Meezer be very careful asking a OCD person to clean your house. When we clean most of your stuff will never be found again so my husband says. That is how DH gets the kids to clean their rooms. Its either get in there and clean it so a fireman can safety get to them or mom is going to do it for them. They all run......

My neighbor just brought me a book called The Encyclopedia of Country Living. It looks pretty interesting. Tells about cover crops and gardening and storing of foods. I love books.

Well its already in the 70's here, a slight breeze which is nice. I need to go and balance the check book so I know exactly how in debt I really am.
Oh I need some ideas for dinner. I have a whole chicken sitting out. But dont want to roast it.

Ask an OCD person to CLEAN!!! FORGET IT!!!!!!!!! LOL

I have one son who's definitely NOT OCD and when he cleans (which is OFTEN!) No one can find anything because WASTE MANAGEMENT has already buried it before we remembered we had it! ROTFLOL!!

And "room for all the depends!" OK~! Who peeked??? LOL

Gayle...I sure hope that dear rear of yours gets better in a hurry!! Lots of things I *like* to say about that one...butt this is not the place to do it. LOL & LOL

Visited my neighbor, to indroduce Samson, of course he went crazy to meet new people, husband said " I wish he was mine" lol, they have four small chidren, mother said 'no way, who is gong to take care of 'it' ? me. True, is it not always the way? I remember very well!
Also called about invisible fence, they are coming tomorrow to see what I want, a few days later I'll have the fence.
Also called an obedient class right here in town but had to leave a message
Missed my chiropractor, just not too certain how to leave Samson, think he will be too upset by himself guess my back has to wait,. Samson is such a sweet one, but one thing his former owner must have done, everytime I eat something he waits with baited breath for me to share, well I will not do this, terrible habit.

Cut the chicken into pieces, Casey, salt, pepper and dust with flour to brown them in butter and olive oil, about 4 min. on each side, remove. in same pan saute onions, mushrooms and garlic till temder, add Marsala wine bring to a boil add chicken and parsley, cook for another 5 or so minutes, let it rest, I have this in my head so I can't tell you the precise amount, just keeep tasting as you go along, it is very good and really does not take very long
That is one book I should have read when I first rrived here, LOL
