Growing David Austin Roses in Coastal So. Calif.

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Does anyone have any luck with DA roses in So. Calif...especially near the beach???? I am considering tearing out the ones I have...they get every disease and fungus in the book!!! The flower heads are too heavy for the stems and they flop over and/or break off...it also appears difficult to get them to rebloom....Any ideas???? Help!!!
Thanks!!

Stanford, CA(Zone 9b)

I've sort of been warned off the David Austin roses for warm climates.

A good place to do research is
http://www.helpmefind.com/rose/index.php

They have lists of roses with their disease susceptibility included along with photos. Go to favorites (listed at the left). There you will find a list of roses that have good disease resistance.

Another thing is to ask in the rose forum - that's an excellent source.

Camarillo, CA

I have had good luck with some David Austen Roses in Camarillo. Graham Thomas, a sturdy yellow rose has done very well. Mary Rose another DA rose is another good choice.
