Wow! Those are beautiful!!!

Oh, those truly are outstanding. Where could I get a Snook and June's Joy??????
Ardesia, you can order June's Joy - and a lot of more - from "A Touch of the Tropics". His owner has just told me he has it in stock now.

Carlos, a bit late answering.
beautiful. lusting after Karen Lee. $21.95 for an 8" pot seems pricey, that's more than Logees, and I think they are expensive.
For hybrids tropical hibiscus a price in the range $20-$30 is quite usual for an 8" pot. All nurseries, specialized in hibiscus, that I know have those prices.
Logees isn't a hibiscus nursery. I've seen in its web page that they sell a few hybrid hibiscus from $9.95 for a 2,5" pot and up to $14.95 for a 4" pot. If you multiply by 3 and 2, respectively, you will have the same price or higher for its equivalent 8" pot.
These are links to other hibiscus nurseries that sell hybrids. You acn check there their prices

Thanks for the clarification, Carlos. You are absolutely correct. I must be losing my edge as a comparison shopper, lol.
Carlos, of the sites you listed, what is your fave? I had the good fortune to meet THE Mr. Dupont at a flower show last spring. Fascinating man! I think I like theirs best.
Do you get hibiscuses shipped to Belgium?
vossner, none of those nurseries ship to private customers in Europe as I am. Just one, Exotic Hibiscus, exports some varieties and it's a belgian nursery which imports them.
I share membership in some mailing lists with the owners of some of those nurseries:

Exotic Hibiscus

Hidden Valley Hibiscus

I think all people who order from them are happy with the plants they receive.
I bought my hibiscus in two nurseries in Belgium that sell a few varieties and there's one in Netherland, Gommer's Nursery, that sells a few more. It has a web page

I also received wood from some places (U.S., Brazil, Uruguay, France, ...)
Since some of you are from Texas, I know two people there who have a huge hibiscus collection (around 400 and 1500 plantas, respectively). These are their picture albums.

Carlos, your June's Joy is much prettier then the one on the website.
Where can Snook be purchased?
Thank you
a
Snooks is an australian variety that is also sold in Europe but I don't know if it's avaliable in the US.
If you're looking for a huge bloom, Snooks isn't your choice. It's clasified as a miniature, around 5".
Ardesia, some hibiscus blooming inside a greenhouse are less atractive than ones blooming under the sun. June's Joy with the direct sunlight will get the yellow edge. I forwarded your comments about the picture to the owner and he will change it.

Carlos
Thank you for the info,
When I get some time i will need to photo mine and post for you all to see.
They are my passion!
... and my passion also. I only have 5 square meters for the plants but there are near 150 hibiscus plants there. How many do you have?
If you are still interested in Snooks I can query about its availability in other mailing lists.
Carlos
I can't tell you right now how many I have in Iowa as I am at my house in Southern California; but I do have 27 here in Southern California. Guess I will have to count when i get back to Iowa next week.
You have a gorgeous collection of tropical Hibiscus, Carlo05! They are all so beautiful that I would have a very difficult time selecting my favorite! Also, thanks so much for all the wonderful links too!!
Carlos, that is a lot of plants in a small area. Do you keep your plants pruned to keep them within bounds? I once had a double pink tropical for about 25 years that I kept about 6' tall by 4' wide. I had to prune it each year to keep it that size. What size do you keep yours?
Ardesia, here in Belgium, I live in an appartment and I have the plants at the balcony which I converted into a mini-greenhouse. The plants are in different levels on shelves.
I never pruned the plants. Thery're small yet and most have some tip die back in winter due to the lack of sunlight and the high humidity. So, always next Spring they start with less size than they finish the Summer. It's like a self-pruning. And the growing season is very short here. No more than 4-5 months.
Only the seedlings are getting bigger, near 1 meter high but I have to wait until they bloom for the first time to prune them to get some wood to share with friends.
This a picture of how the balcony was at the beginning of October. No more blooms since then ... and no sun, just rain, snow or fog.
Regards
Carlos
A limited growing season but the plants are self pruning! Isn't it amazing how some plants adapt to their environment.
