Got any new ideas for companions for daffs and tulips?

Claremore, OK

I've done the pansies and violas with daffs and tulips. I'd love to see what combos you done.
I'm currently looking for something to add with the combo of violas variety Sorbet Blueberry Cream and Ice Follies daffodils.

Has anybody done a combo with the tulip Dordogne?

Below is a picture of the tulip Angelique with some violas.

oohheee! that is a pretty combo! You really have the touch with growing tulips!

I will be watching for more ideas here for daffs (can't grow tulips because of squirrels and deer)...in general my combinations are pretty trite and I would like to spice them up a bit, too--

I planted lots of anemone blanda among my daffs....and late blooming white narcissus 'cheerfulness' with purple azaleas...and the various muscari with the daffs and also creeping phlox...

and this year I planted lots of allium combinations---the giant alliums among the peonies and siberian iris (I picked up the idea from the White Flower Farms catalog)...so we will see how that will work.

And I also saw a recommendation for orangey red tulips among heuchera, but I don't know how that would work out...and deep purpley tulips around japanes maples...

I want to try some bulbs under my dogwood tree...but haven't decided what would coincide with the bloom time...

Where I live, Daffs and Muscari bloom concurrently and the yellow versus blue constrast is wonderful

Very pretty, Todd--and what is the little plant in between the muscari?

I was looking around and found this Broadleigh Bulbs article that goes into depth on the little blue bulbs... http://www.broadleighbulbs.co.uk/months/bluebulbs.htm and how to use them in the garden...

Last year I tried for some simultaneous bloom with muscari, but with little luck...it's a big experiment, I'm finding out! I did get this creeping phlox, muscari, and narcissus Hawera to bloom together, but the colors were a little too bright for my taste. Like a traffic light almost!

The little shrub is Euonymus fortunei 'Blondie'...not very happy now for some unknown reason so will probably be replaced next spring.

Thanks Todd,

The muscari or what we call grape hyacinth naturalize here readily.
I'll have to try your combo. I do have daffs that bloom at different times in my yard. Daffs also tend to bloom 2 weeks later the first time I put them in.

Bulbs went on sale in my area today. I will be gardening by portable electric light the next few weeks. LOL

I'm doing sunken pots of tulips so I can have them for displays and
force them to bloom early. I've pulled them when I see the green leaves coming up. Then I put them in a sunny window and they bloom indoors for me around the middle of March.
