The next seedling that I'm looking forward to!

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

This little brug has truly become my buddie! It survived my cat Skeeter eating it's tiny little "just germinated" head. It survived me cutting it's second head off in a mite experiment. This picture was it's first bud a couple of weeks ago. Dadburn it ... we had a heavy rain that knocked it off. I opened it and it was a 6 pointer. It's very first flower was a six pointer. Cool! This brug has some real character already due to its small more rounded than normal leaves .
Right now I have about 15 buds in all different sizes. The buds are short and chubby. I'm thinking this one will have small flowers. And they will be pink. (KEEPING FINGERS CROSSED)
Unfortunately I don't remember the cross. When Skeeter ate it I did not intend to keep this plant and I threw the cross away. It is a Mary Haik cross that includes either Butterfly or Ecuador Pink.

I'm so glad I kept this one. I've learned alot from the experience. And I'm so looking forward to these flowers!!!!!!!! .... yippee!

Wow, so does that mean it will have a clump of blooms? Does that happen often or is it the plant? I can't wait to see it bloom...

Springfield, OH(Zone 5b)

I have never seen a clump... cool

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

This is a picture of the entire plant that I took a month or so ago.
The buds are spread out in the tops of both stems on this plant. Not in a clump. I will definitely post the future flower pictures. :)

Vicki, you got it right on both counts, it is Butterfly x EP.

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

It won't be much longer now! Can't wait to see those beautiful blooms!

Burleson, TX

how long does it take to go from bud to bloom? Does it depend on the plant....

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

For me, if I want them to bloom, they take f-o-r-e-v-e-r. If I want them to hold off blooming, they can bloom pronto pup...it seems to depend on the temps here...

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

Congrats in it making it this far!!! poor kittie lol

Can't wait to see pics, hoping it's a PINK just for you :)

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

This is one of the seeds from my "froggie" pod. When the pod started growing, a tree frog took up residence under the calyx and stayed there for quite some time. I think I still have some pictures here. I remember saying that I was going to have to name any keeper seedlings from this bunch with "frog" names, but I didn't start any of these seeds, and Vicki is the only one I know of that has a seedling from that bunch.

Here he still is as the pod was getting bigger.

And another. He didn't stay until the pod matured, but he was in there for quite a while.

Born during a storm. This is so fitting for this brug. There is nothing normal about its life.

She's got curls! She is the only brug I brought in for safety.

If after all this time of ups and downs this brug turns out to be white ... well ... that will just be the perfect ending! ... ha! :)

Turning pink! It's a girl! Pink cigars for everyone! Now to see it's shape .... if it ever decides to open fully. :)
Hope the pink will go all the way up the corolla neck and it gets real dark pink in the summer. It will probably look like many of the other Butterfly hybrids out there but I can certainly live with that.

what a beautiful pinwheel!

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

oooooh that's looking good

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

She is soooooo pale. After a couple of days it is still just a tint of pink, not as dark as the picture shows. The pink does not extend to the neck. If it would stay that pale baby pink forever I think I would like it more than if it turns the darker more orangey pink. Looking forward to the summer colors.
