This is a plain ol' suaveolens pink x versicolor Ecuador Pink seedling. Adopted from me by Susie in 2003. This seedling was about 2.5 years old and had never flowered when it was adopted. It had never flowered because it was totally neglected most of the time. Little water, almost no nutrition and freezes is not the route to go if you want to see a new seedling flower in your lifetime. lol!
It flowered for Susie and we decided to name it Eternity. I preach all the time about how it is not good to name a brug at first flower. I too am Guilty of naming at first flowers! :) In this case the name Eternity totally described this seedling that was so determined to live. It had survived drought, starvation and long winter nights in the ghouse without a coat for so long. Bless it's heart :) . Thank you Susie and Tracey too for taking such good care of her.
I've recently had the pleasure of seeing Eternity again in person. But this time with flowers. Very pretty and it sure loves to flower. The pink is so clear with no hints of red in it. She is now 4+ years old and by todays standards a lookalike. I know she is not anything of great value to the brug world but she is priceless to me and full of sentimental history. I still love her even though her flowers wilt in the heat!
Melanie this is one of the brugs I'm sending to you. Tag... you're it! .... please promise me that you will take special care of her! :)
Eternity
OH MY it's darling!! Thanks for sharing the lovely picture, I am in love all over again LOL

My word, I have the same brug and she is in bloom. A big fat squirrel fell right in the middle of her shortly after she arrived, but instead of killing her, she started to race to bloom. I think she's lovely and smells great. She is a bit frayed but this is the last bloom in her first flush, she is loaded with buds. Mind you she was attacked by swarming Western Flower Thrips and she said, thanks, but no thanks and they found greener pastures elsewhere. I give her high points for ignoring those hateful thrips!!!

It is so pretty.
Wow Sherry! Thanks for that information. I'm thinking she would be a pretty cool brug for those that have problems growing v. Ecuador Pink. She doesn't look entirely like EP but she does have the versicolor space between the calyx (long neck). She at least resembles it to a degree. lol! She flowers a billion times better than EP in the heat.
Wow that is beautiful.
WOW! What a beauty!
This one likes Texas too. It's flowers do wilt in the heat, but perk up after the hot sun gets behind the palm trees.
Vicki, wasn't it 2002?
I'm getting old Susie. My memory (and my eyesight) is fading fast. lol! Could be!

Vicki, I have three EPs and if they were humans, I'd say they have failure to thrive and I supposed the heat is the culprit. But, my goodness, I have an EP that consistently has the curliest tendrils I've ever seen. So, I have lotz of space and will keep her to cross. But, IMO, Eternity is the better of the two in my zone. Eternity bushes out and has great, dark foliage which does NOT wilt here - which really surprised me when her blooms wilted. I don't take many points off for heat wilt of blossoms in my zone, whew, it's (((HOT/HUMID))) and Eternity is not a bug magnet, always a great trait in my book...oh, and she smells great which is why those blooming Western Flower Thrips swarmed her - she showed them a thing or two, I thought that was amazing that she fought them, I just don't know how she did it...what a trip this brugging is...
Thank you for such a wonderful description of Eternity Sherry! I had no idea she was all that. Wow!
Pollen Sloppers Anonymous: I purposely planned that this brug would be all that! I knew that if I crossed the two it would create the most perfect brug in the world. I'm the winner, Hands Down. Ya'll might as well hang it up. ... rofl! ... heehaheeho!
Keeping my fingers crossed that she'll stay pest resistant. It will not surprise me to learn someday that she has been gobbled up by some kind of icky bug critter. Seems to happen eventually to most every brug. ... lol!
Those itty bitty green caterpillars don't like her either. Spidermites?? She just laughs at them! Now if she were just double pink with red and blue ruffles on the skirt.........
Bless her little heart. Too bad she is a has been before she ever had a chance to be anything. Still love her. I'm thinking that in another 4-5 years she will turn into the most beautiful quadruple you ever saw. .... pink red blue and purple!
hahaha, she's worth the keep vickie, for her bug resistance, if nothing else, and I like her foliage too, so she's still in her front row, side spot here in Arky...
