I planted seeds, but my tags are gone.
Which is this?
Hi Calalily - That sure looks exactly like the Ipomoea tricolor cultivar"Blue Star" to me...hope that helps...
Thanks Ron, I think I remember seeing that on the package(I should have saved it). I really like the fragile look of these vines, especially after the thuggish red moonvines!
Calalily - I like the I.tricolors alot, especially for size of blooms and reliability...I started a late season crop of various Ipomoea species in early August and the tricolors have grown the fastest and consistently put out more blooms than any other species...they're an American Icon of MG's...Glad to see you enjoying them in zone 10a(!)...
TTY,
i grew these this season and the pale blue of it is amazing. it was fragile looking.
I don't see them as 'fragile'...actually I've come to appreciate the I.tricolors more since they seem to do much better,in several ways, than many of the large flowered Japanese types...The "Blue Star" may look ephemeral, but they are 'tougher' than they look(!)...
Cheers,...
