LOL,,,,always
Overwintering my Passion Flower 'Clear Sky'
I'll be a fourth pea.
So, who plans on ordering from Logee's NEXT spring? (Think restraint, restraint, restraint...) I think that I must or I may die. I want Clear Sky so badly. But I must overwinter P. cearulea first...
Hyper-focus, eh? Wow.
Do you folks go on plant kick cycles? My recent ones have been Ensete, Passiflora, Orienpet Lilies, Violas, Sabal, and Evergreen vines. I treated each kick like a collector, and It cost money. Not a good position for a student, you know.
There might be ways of controlling oneself, but that's no fun!
Recieved the first of next season's catalogues! (Pinetree) Ouch. How about you fine folks?
JamesCO,
A fourth pea it is,,,,,,,LOL,,,,,Kylee had to go and post that link,,,,,,I will not order, I will not order, I will not order,,,,figure if I keep repeating that phrase in my head I will believe it by Spring,,,,,,,hey, I can dream.
Yep, my addiction this summer was hostas. Next year I have to put more beds in to accommodate said addiction.
Student huh? Well, you learned a very important lesson,,,,plant kick's cost lots of money,,,,LOL
Haven't recieved any catalogs yet. Usually mine start coming right about this time of year though.
I will not order, Kelly
The second bud opened yesterday and is still open today. One more to go, and I think it will open this weekend. It looks very close...
No word from Logee's about my order. :-(
Plant Addictions? You mean there is such a thing? Nah! Couldn't possibly be...not me! I'm not an additive personality. No WAY! And I REFUSE to take my medications...I am NOT addicted!!
(Wanna bet!! My Pinetree and Stokes Seeds are right here by my elbow with pages marked...I'm in the starting gate....positions PLEASE...BANG! There's the gun!! And she's OFF!!!)
LOL
~julie~
And she's rounding the first half of the first catalog now,,,,way out in front of the others,,,,,will be checking back in to see how she's faring and now to our other programing.
LOL!!!
Question: I got some rooting powder at Walmart last night - Schultz TakeRoot. Do I HAVE to put it on the cuttings and plant them in soil, or can I just dissolve some in the water that I've got my cuttings in?
You got it!!! And she's slowing down...yep...had to stop and READ the planting instructions...will she ever catch up with the pack. We'll just have to wait and see. OH NO!!! She SAT DOWN! (Ladies and gentlemen...this might be her downfall...stay tuned!)
LOL
~~~~~~~~~
Kylee...I have that brand also. I just lightly coat the end of the cutting ...*lightly*... then stick the cutting into the moist potting soil. I don't whether you can dilute it in water or not.
~julie~
c'mon julie,,,,get goin' *Kelly dangling a cookie tied to a stick in front of julie* don't let all the others pass you up,,,,gotta get through those catalogs
LOL ....cookies won't do it for me. Now...if that was a NEW SEED or PLANT Catalog...might be another story. (I'll even walk to the mailbox myself to get those! hehehe)
~julie~
Then I just wait and hope and pray that there are roots growing down there? I guess I'll know if they aren't, because the cutting will die, huh?
O.K. *Kelly holding a Gorgeous Plant strung on a stick in front of Julie* ,,,,Better? LOL
LOL!!!
SHE'S UP!!! She's taking the first step! She's .....she's.....UH OH, she's not moving very quickly...nope...she's at the computer! What's that? Where's she going!!! OH NO!!! She's bogged down on another SEED site!! She'll lose this race!!! (Uh...who is she racing against, anyhow? Anyone know? LOL)
~julie~
ummmmm, nope?
Racing me! And I've hit the penultimate finish line: a decided order of $8.32. Now, in the home stretch of the first catalogue stage: (Ladies and Gents) who will order first?
Say, Kbaumle, about how much did that root hormone powder cost? I am in dire need as I've still yet to find my old bottle.
I have to get away from the computer and it's plantemptations.
It was $3.97 for a 2 oz. jar.
JamesCO,
$8.32,,,,surely you can come up with more stuff that that????
Kelly
Kelly! Get thee behind me. Terrible influence, you. (Kidding.) Remember: Restraint, restraint, restraint...
I just ate a carrot. Who was supposed to be dangling it in front of me and wasn't watching?
$10.98 total.
Thanks dbaumle. I'm prepared to be that much poorer!
Hey, now that I'm not addressing a crowd so much as a few peas in a pod, who hasn't grown the red castor bean (Ricinus communis 'Carmencita') and wants some seeds? No kidding; I just sawed mine down and have a surplus. Just tell me how much postage to put on an envelope. I have other stuff I should put out on a trade list or summit'...
I've never grown castor beans. I just looked it up and it sounds like fun! I'd like to try it! Want me to send you a SASBE?
JamesCo,
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah,,,I've been accused of that before,,,LOL
Actually, Kelly, it was YOUR fault that I started getting so many hostas again. From 9kittymom
$10.98, I think that shows a lot of restraint,,,yep I sure do. LOL
I would love a couple of the Red Castor Bean seeds. Can I send you a Self addressed stamped bubble envie? If so, is your address in the exchange, if not, d-mail me with it. Mine is in the exchange.
Thanks, Kelly
Mailed.
Oh, dear. she has a track record, folks.
A little Castor Bean note: Start them indoors, place out when warm. Otherwise treat like a sunflower. They aren't frost hardy, but the seeds themselves may be, if only a little. Read up plantfiles. Enjoy those monsters.
Hum. perhaps we are a few beans in a pod.
Castor beans maybe, instead of peas! LOL! The SASBE will be in the mail today! Thanks!!
Yes I do indeed,,,,
The first wasn't into hostas until she sent me oodles (way more than we agreed upon) of goodies (not hostas) in a trade and I just had to send a few little goodies (hostas) back to try to even it out. Well, that was the first, I don't think she does eBay yet,,,but blames me now for her new hosta addiction. LOL
And then there's Susan (9kittymom) she sells on eBay and we were talking in the Hosta Forum and I was mentioning what nice hostas I had gotten from eBayers. She said she was over the eBay buying thing,,,well,,,,she got back into it with a vengeance,,,LOL,,,she Just finished planting the last of them now. So she has taken to blaming me for her recurrence of her eBay addiction,,,,this time with Hostas. LOL
Yep, always willing to help where hostas are concerned ,,,or any other plants for that matter. LOL
Kelly
Oooops....Looks like JamesCo beat me to the draw! (uh...the finish line? LOL) You've certainly mastered the "restraint" temptation. I need to work on that. hehehe
I grew the Carmencita Castors this summer...but I didn't get them in the ground soon enough to have ripe seeds before the frost turned them into "bean soup" (Mwwaaaahahahaha). This year I'll probably be buying several packets. I don't grow them as single plants, I put mine in little hills of several beans to each one. And when they got growing, they looked like really cool shrubs.
~julie~
Julie, Julie; Don't buy when you can get them for free, my friend.
(Ricinus. c. 'Carmencita') I made a wall of them on my ditchbank with a couple six-packs started indoors. My father had a look at the bank after I sawed them down and had a bit of a shock. But now I can see the mountains again, at least!
I haven't actually ordered yet. That comes at the next Credit Card Period. Ha! I play my cards right so that I never owe the Card Co. a penny!
Kelly: You and your Hosta friend. So familiar.
A friend and I 'trade' those addiction/cycles so that we are alway plant-high. It does cost us both a bit too much, though... She gets me into violas when she's high on them, when she tires, I get her into Passiflora. Lilies/Aroids, Veronicas/dahlias and so on...
-And don't compliment me about restraint until I get out of next spring alive from passiflora mail-orders. If I do.
JamesCO,
I'm SO easy when it comes to plants,,,,very pathetic actually,,,LOL
I would rather spend my last dime on a plant than anything else. And I think I have on occasion,,,ROFLOL
LOL...James, if you have quite a few that you'd like to get rid of, I'll be more than happy to take them off your hands. :-)
I've got ample seeds for Liatris (Blue Star), Lyre Leaf Sage (Salvia Lyrata)...excellent for front of the border (not much in the way of showy flowers...but that's fine with me). Platycodon (Balloon Flower) accidently got pink and double purple mixed up in the gathering bags (LOL), Standard Tall Red Canna, gazillions of Purple Cone Flower and probably a lot more once I get all the bags sorted and the seeds cleaned. :-D (If you see anything in the list you'd like just let me know.
Kelly...you are *not* the only one who feels that way. I think...no...I *know* that I'm more than willing to spend my kids 'inheritance' because I'm *doing* just that. LOL (Just think of the memories I'm making! hehehehe)
~julie~
julie,
Good for you,,,have a good time with it, if they can't take care of themselves, somethings wrong, you worked for it, enjoy it while you can, you can't take it with you.]
LOL and this is coming from someone who keeps telling my Mom not to spend My inheritence,,,LOL she Knows I am J/K
Kelly
Who was it said something to the effect about a man who spend his money on not two baps of bread, but one bap and a lily flower? "Wise is the man..."
That's way off, please correct me!
Julie, I have Canna indica seeds, but if you mean Canna 'the President' or something else, I would not say no to a few! Tell me how you want to do it.
Hey, I spent my college money on a pickup to haul manure. Man and Academia is falliable, but the old S-10 is not.
James...I had to smile at your "college money". Seems like the destiny of a lot of college educations these days...full of bull. LOL and j/k.
If you're in the exchange I'll just send you some seeds (btw, they are similar to the "President'...the tubers were given to me without a name) and you can send me seeds in return. (I'm in the exchange.)
~julie~
Julie, your seeds are packed. I will put them in tomorrow's post.
That's a load o' Horse. There is a huge difference!
The Bull is that I have several pages of S. T. Coleridge biography to write: starting now, due tomorrow. Call it procrastination. Or inability to interest myself in a giddy dead poet. Or distraction with gardening!
K. James
LOL @ James! (Sounds like me! No matter what I HAVE to do, something *else* catches my attention until there's no more wiggle room and I am FORCED to get the first thing over and done with. ROTFLOL)
Thanks for the seeds...and for correcting my misnomer on the *stuff* in the pickup bed. hehehe
~julie~
