why they will not ship, send, mail, or sale morning glories in Arizona? I have tried to order them from mail order cataloges, Ebay sellers will not ship into Arizona. I just can't figure it out. Yours are all so lovely. I would love an explanation.
Thanks Tami
Can any one tell me
Arizona has decided to impliment strong regulations on importing or selling various MG's...although,I have had people tell me that they did buy MG's at plant sales, the Botanic Gardens sometimes offer them and there are quite a few that are native to Arizona, and you may be able to find some growing in the wild...I know the community garden in Tuscon grows them...E-mail me if you need further help...
Well now that is just sick and wrong. I have found a orange MG in the wild, has pointed leaves, and flowers. Is it illegal then to grow them in Arizona? Or just illegal to ship them into Az.? Thanks for your help.
Tami found this when I google for arizona and their import rules. I also checked with our deparment to get that those where not included in the prohibited import list.

Tami, you can thank the cotton farmers. Back when they had political clout in this state they managed to pass that bit of legislation onto the rest of us. The reason being, MGs grow wild along their irrigation canels and they would migrate into the fields thus clogging machinery. Theres not too many of those cotton fields left. They're all subdivisions now with people like you and me that would love to grow those lovely MGs. Any how, if you keep your eyes open you can find stores that aren't aware of the ban and they'll have seeds for sale. I would imagine in Prescott they would do fantastic. I'm driving up there next week to do a little plant shopping and visit my daughter who goes to Yavapai. Your area always has cool stuff that I can't buy in the valley. Oh, and BTW, I do grow MGs.....
Joseph, yes its Heavenly Blue. I don't have a lot to choose from here but its ok because I think that will always be my favorite.
Thanks Janett for the link, I will go and check this out. And thanks for checking things out for me.
Kimaz, I have never seen any for sale, and believe me I look. I have seen the white moon flower, I recognized it reading through the post on here. And I have seen that Heavenly Blue MG growing around here. Cotton fields, ah yes, I think I have seen one or two down your way, but that was years ago. I think out by the airport or maybe on the way to Tuscon. Oh you will love your visit here. The weather is perfect, highs of 70, but the nights are getting really cold. Bring a light jacket!!
Oh and you missed Watters big plant sale by 2 weeks, they really had some great deals.I think there just now getting ready to put Christmas stuff out. Have a safe trip, and thanks for the info.
Tami, do what I do. Ask for MG seeds for Christmas and birthdays from any out of state relatives. I actually had a very reputable, established nursery here in town give me seeds because they thought the ban was ridicules.
Kimaz,
I like there way of thinking :) Well I never thought of looking for seeds when I travel. But I'm certainly going to know. Great idea about christmas and birthday gifts. I wonder if they will ever change the law. How many seeds did it take for you to get such a nice full vine?
