.....and flowers on Dischidias are too boring then you could add some african cousins like Ceropegias to it :)
In case you feel that Hoya addiction is not enough.....
I LOVE IT !! What is it?? I have to have one. You are so mean posting that pic. As if we aren't addicted enough to hoyas!! I love the weird and unusual. That fits both.
You are soooooooooooooooo cruel Milan!
Almost looks like a new style of Christmas Tree lights!
Gorgeous!
Are they pretty easy to grow? I love the look of the plant!
You are terrible to tempt us with those pictures!!
He loves every second of it!
What is that ball shaped cacti next to the Ceropegia denticulata Milan?
Though the common name is Baseball Cactus it actually is not a cacti, it's botanical name Euphorbia obesa.
Cruel?????......... ME???????????, if you just could see the Halo above my head
Better clean your mirror a little better there Milan. ;)
You certainly have one of the most interesting collections in this country (til seeing your plants I only thought there was one ceropegia......never mind the diversity in the Hoya family) .
Did you pick up the Euphorbia obesa in Germany?
Mirror is clean, I never said it was free floating though (2 Horns hold it up :)
Nope Pam I got E. obesa in the garden section of a home hardware center.
Like with Hoyas there are easy and difficult Ceropegias, the ones in the pictures above are easy ones to grow.
Milan, You are toooo bad!! I had to go do a little ceropegias shopping on line and it is all your fault!! I will let you know how they do..... Those plants are just to interesting!
Karen
LOLOL.....somehow that doesn't come as a surprise!
I spent the day in Regina checking out my fav haunts.....not a single Ceropegia to be seen (but I picked up a couple of other goodies :).
They may be the easier ones (for you anyways ;) and they certainly are very unique.
Oh no.... Very unique indeed. The vine is so thick.
Such cruel and delightful punishment. I would love to see more pictures of them. Hint hint!
Heather
I second Heather's subtle hint! :)
Love Ceropegias....now if only I could get them to bloom like that one!!
Mine will get a sporadic bloom or two....no 'flush' like that!
I've resisted the temptation to buy more....I'm really out of room!
Wow! That is cool looking plant, Milan! It's neat the way it blooms on such a thick vine and no leaves. This wasn't the one you were going to send me a cutting????
;) Donna
Yo Milan........don't you have some other ones that are blooming now? :)
Such a neat looking flower! Great picture, Milan!
:) Donna
Ü Another winner (both for flower and leaves)........it looks like a cross between a ceropegia and another fav of yours (the stapeliads .........a little on the hairy side).
LOL Milan are you hinting that I'm somewhat pushy??? ;)
If you want to see some Ceriopegas, check out this link: http://www.sagereynolds.com/cero/cedex.htm
There's even one called Ceriopega carnosa!
Christina
Thank you for the link Christina :) ........wonderful pics and information.
I'm not hinting at anything :)
Yeah my Duvalia sulcata should open a new bloom soon and I'll post a pic once that happens (didn't like the previous pics of it)
For the whole spectrum of the family and even more Ceropegias: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/chris.moore30444/
Thanks Milan!!! Ü........I'm going to be spending more than a few hours at that site.
edited to say a co-worker was looking over my shoulder and was truly amazed. I'll have to remember to bring the woodii you sent me to work so she can see it.

Lunch hour now and I have a bowl of soup burning my leg. That site is dangerous and, after a quick initial scan, I can now see why you have such a hard time narrowing down your Asclepiadaceae addictions. Have you put in another request to be transferred to Australia? ;)
I'm going to add the text Focke Albers & Ulrich Meve's Illustrated Handbook of Succulent Plants, published October 2002 to my gardening book thread.

Oh com'on.....IS THAT REAL?! Oh my gooosh - it's just BEEEAAUTIFUL! WOOOOW~!
That looks like a stapelia (sp). Is that what it is related to? I have a big purple one that blooms like a star too.
Marcy
OH MY!!! Ü Perfect background for the pic too!
How large is the flower Milan?
Flower on sulcata is about 60mm (~2.5") in diameter, elegans about 25mm (1")
You certainly have the *magic* touch with plants. You've gotta get one or two ;) of Shoal Creek Succulents' plants smuggled across the border .
The camera can *really fool* the eye as to how large a bloom is. Both look like wonderful plants for peeps with limited window space.
Do Duvalia flowers stink like the stapelias do?
Most of mine smell like rotten meat. Not something you want on your windowsill. And they attract flys too.
Cool flowers Milan. I love stapelias and their relatives too, although I only have one, orbea variegata. It bloomed like crazy this year and I put it outside hoping it might attract some flies and get pollinated but no such luck. Not that I need more mind you since I already have about 5 pots full of it but I just thought it would be cool to have a seed pod. I guess it's not one that the flies like as much as yours Marcy.
Sandy
Marcy, I found the above two Duvalias not to be maloderous.
In regards to malodeous Ascleps, the worst one to me to this date was Pseudolithos eylensis which had small flowers with a rotten smell like a whole farm of caddle died and lay in the sun for a week, definately not one to put in your living or bed room :)
EEEWWWW.....YUCK. Thanks for telling me, I won't be getting that one. Isn't it funny how such pretty flowers can smell soooo bad?
Last year we went to the Fullerton Arboretum to see the opening of the "Corpse Flower". It is as tall as me and opened up into a 4 foot wide flower. Every few minutes it would put out a smell that would just about knock you over. Ha. Worth seeing and getting a few pictures though.
These things can be very interesting and nice to have as long as you have a place out in the breezy outside to keep them.
Marcy
That is definitely cool, Milan!!
:) Donna
Out of curiousity ...... where is your Pseudolithos eylensis now Milan? ;)
edited to say that plant even looks rank: http://www.rare-succulents.com/webphotos_sales/pseudolithos/psdoeyl140.htm :b And expensive to boot! :S
